While this is definitely taking it too far. To say that it doesn't matter if you cut your grass is too far to the other end. Not cutting your grass in an urban in enviroment makes a safe haven for rodents and also can become a breeding ground for mosquitos. Both of which are health hazzards.

Remind me never to go into the country ever again lest I want to get swarmed by rodents and mosquitoes.

Oh yeah and mosquitoes breed in water not grass.

    Where's the bacon?
OK, someone help me out with this: The landowner doesn't cut his grass. He gets a letter, a summons, and finally, is jailed for two months.

Presuming that the grass or weeds are at six feet plus when he goes in... how tall can we expect them to be when he finally is released? Plus, now that he's been in jail for two months, he's no longer employed, so while he'll have time to mow the grass, he won't be able to afford the gas to run his mower.

Real smart, Town of Albany.... :noway:

    Blessings,
    Bill

    And this makes sense WHY????

They indicated in the video they would hire a company to mow it and bill you for the cost plus fines.

I can remember when my brother and I lived in Lafayette, we went a whole summer without mowing our yard. The guy living next door that was trying to sell his house took care of it for us. I know, it was kind of childish. But , the guy was a giant "richard", and we were in our 20's and had bikes and women to occupy our time.

I... uh... words escape me here. I mean, what do you say to something like that that won't get you thrown in jail or at least banned on this site? :dunno:

Oh, it just came to me and was stated in the OP.

They are hoping that the herds of animals will move in off the Savanna (sp?) and graze it down to a manageable height.

Police State worshipers should enjoy this. You can be stripped of your freedom if you don't mow your lawn. This is another case of a crime without a victim, excuses to be harassed for using your own land the way you choose.

Reap what you sow, freedom haters.

He should have blamed it on the super-saturation of CO2 in the atmosphere over his property caused by global warming. His plantings are simply adhering to the laws of physics (not the same laws of physics regarding airplanes, buildings, and gravity) that states that as plants take in more CO2, they get bigger. Not wishing to further exaserbate the situation, he refrained from using his evil CO2 producing devices to cut his plants, which would only have served to make them grow even taller and stronger, reaching an apex where he would have been unable to cut them at all and also had the effect of super-saturating the atmosphere of his neighbor's properties, resulting in the same result.

This is settled science and not to be debated or triffled with.

There are such things as PUSH lawn movers which do not require any gas just your human power. Best of all they don't make any noise so you can cut your grass at 3AM if you like. ;)

Yes, that's what the Tea Party and global warming skeptics want you to believe. But the fact is that it takes a MASSIVE intake of Twinkies and other high sugar and salt laden food products to take down such a magnificient forest.

PETA, ELF, and Greenpeace have been notified.

Interesting they have the jail space for this sort of thing. I keep seeing they don't have room to lock poor little Lindsay Lohan up. SHe better stay out of NY. Obviously something needs to be done to make sure people mow their lawns. I think this is the kind of thing that would be better handled by a public caning.

Hmmm, what about the neighbors, ram? Are they not victims?

Are they not victimized by the slobbery next door? Were not the neighbor's property rights harmed by the unkempt yard. Does not that sloth endanger the lives of the neighbors (rats, strays, trash, etc.)?

Must not the use of property be usufruct, to paraphrase Jefferson?

About 7 years ago me & my wife decided to plant a bunch of native wild flowers on a section of our property, sort of like a small "nature preserve" to attract butterflies and stuff (we also have a large butterfly bush for that same reason) now granted some of the species of those wild flowers grew pretty tall but they all were still native wild flowers.

The city sent me a letter threatening fines & stuff if I didn't mow my yard, now the rest of my yard was all well tended & this particular area was easily identifiable as an area that was manicured around ...

So I called them & explained what it was that we were doing & what those "weeds" were and they simply stated that a neighbor had made a complaint & that either I cut my "grass" or they would have a crew come out and do it for me, fine me & then bill me for their crew's time.

Needless to say I didn't really want to fight the city over something like this so I jumped in my truck, revved up my engine & went 4 wheeling through the "weeds" until they were all mowed down, yea you could say I wasn't happy about it but at least I had a bit of fun & probably pissed off which ever neighbor it was who complained about our "weeds".
