First Indiana doesn't have a CCW permit, and second our LTCH (License To Carry Handgun) is not recognized in Ohio.

If you were carrying, I'd say stop by "Ollie's Trolley" on W. Liberty/Central for the best burger in town, but it's in a rough area. Where is the repair place? If you're making a day of it I can point you in the direction of a few good eateries if you'd like.

I am taking my Sister to get her Wedding Dress repaired and I am an Indiana CCW holder...Anything I should consider?

Yes, never let your gas get below 1/4 tank, don't drive in the left lane except for passing, never stop for strangers, and wear clean underwear. Also, sometimes females require frequent potty stops. If your sister needs to stop, I think you should accomodate her needs. Buy her lunch, for petes sake. A nice lunch.

Also, as for personal defense, the Indiana Permit can create a vicious paper cut if used properly. I suggest a horizontal sweeping motion accompanied by a loud blood curdling yell. I wouldn't be afraid of openly displaying your permit should you so choose.

I hope you have a safe trip. :)

Just OC while you are there, there is nothing illegal about OC in Ohio...

    INGunGuy

Except it's illegal in a motor vehicle without a recognized carry license. Has to be unloaded, separate from the ammo or similar provision.

Other differences noted in the link from post 2.

And magazines/speed loaders must be unloaded also.

    So as per the law:

A firearm in the passenger compartment of a motor
vehicle is considered loaded if its magazine is loaded
or a loaded magazine is ready at hand. Muzzleloading
weapons are considered unloaded if the percussion cap
or priming powder in the pan is removed.
It is unlawful for a person not issued a concealed
handgun license or a temporary emergency license to
have a firearm in a motor vehicle unless it is unloaded
and carried in one of the following ways:
    • In a closed case, box, or package.
    • Secured in a rack in plain sight.

Secure the pistol in a box, have the mags in the trunk, then load and carry OC when you get outta the car...

    From Ohio code.
Lawriter - ORC - Chapter 2923: CONSPIRACY, ATTEMPT, AND COMPLICITY; WEAPONS CONTROL; CORRUPT ACTIVITY
2923.16 Improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

(5)”Unloaded” means any of the following:
    (a) No ammunition is in the firearm in question, and no ammunition is loaded into a magazine or speed loader that may be used with the firearm in question and that is located anywhere within the vehicle in question, without regard to where ammunition otherwise is located within the vehicle in question. For the purposes of division (K)(5)(a) of this section, ammunition held in stripper-clips or in en-bloc clips is not considered ammunition that is loaded into a magazine or speed loader.
    (b) With respect to a firearm employing a percussion cap, flintlock, or other obsolete ignition system, when the weapon is uncapped or when the priming charge is removed from the pan.

Again like I said, if the gun is unloaded, and so are the MAG's speed loaders, etc, then from what I read it would be legal.

A loaded magazine is considered under Ohio law as being a loaded weapon... the magazines have to be unloaded unless you have a CHL permit.

Our laws are silly... hope SB239 will pass

The thing that really amazes me about all these so-called good gun laws is it does NOTHING but put people in danger. I think that EVERYONE will agree that a gun is "safe" when in leather. Yes I know safe, and we all know what I mean about "safe" Anyway back on topic, so to pull that gun out of leather for unloading, disassembling, putting in a safe, etc it inherently more dangerous than leaving the damn thing in leather... Why do legislators not understand something my 13 year old daughter understands? Why do I rant and rave? OH well... off my soapboax...

It sounded to me in your previous post that you were saying that loaded mags/etc. were legal in Ohio if they were in a separate area of the vehicle from the firearm. :dunno:
