I'm watching WGN news this morning and they're interviewing people that were stranded on Lakeshore Drive overnight, it brings several things to the front of my mind.
1. 1/2=EMPTY. Many ran out of gas after sitting in traffic for two hours or less.
2. Have an emergency kit in your vehicle. At least some blankets and food.
3. Be ready to save yourself, don't wait for help. One lady was stranded for hours, first in her car until it ran out of gas, then on a city bus until it ran out of gas, then finally another bus came and got them and took them to a shelter. The kicker? LSD is lined with hotels, but when asked the lady said it would have been impossible to cross the street because "it was dark."
