I'm watching WGN news this morning and they're interviewing people that were stranded on Lakeshore Drive overnight, it brings several things to the front of my mind.
    1. 1/2=EMPTY. Many ran out of gas after sitting in traffic for two hours or less.
    2. Have an emergency kit in your vehicle. At least some blankets and food.
    3. Be ready to save yourself, don't wait for help. One lady was stranded for hours, first in her car until it ran out of gas, then on a city bus until it ran out of gas, then finally another bus came and got them and took them to a shelter. The kicker? LSD is lined with hotels, but when asked the lady said it would have been impossible to cross the street because "it was dark."

I like to refer to what is happening as a small scale Darwin Event. Mother Nature is attempting to clean up Our Gene Pool...

Now that is the best statement of the day!

Some people poke fun at my GHB. I haven't been stranded yet, but it is comfortable to carry and easy to sling into a back seat. Needs work, but it is better than what most of those people had.

When the GOV"T. tells it's workers to have a GHB and tells everyone to have preps at home, and they still don't listen, you have to wonder. Of course, hundreds of people is not a lot for the CHicagoland area. You could round up 1000 meth heads out of various trailer parks in Cook county alone who probably didn't know it was winter....

My best friend sent me an email picture last night (us both being South Suburban Chicagoans of old) of one of those vehicles on Lake Shore Drive, with the driver's door open and the car full of snow. Ya gotta wonder what the driver was thinking at the time...

I really like when an FNG is attepting to get their posts up just so they can use the Classifieds...

me too, my first 50 posts were greeting people to INGO :D

I have yet to see the problem with new guys working to make their 50 posts. If the posts are truly egregious the mods do a good job deleting them, and if they make their 50 it is-
    A) A bigger market for whatever I may want to sell
    B) A chance for me to buy their stuff, which might be really cool or just the thing I was looking for.

When some one is just typing a number in each post, I think that is just a little to close to the short end of the pool for me... :dunno:

Personally I really liked this place a LOT more before the classifieds were here... :twocents:

It was North Lake Shore Drive so these particular FIP's probably live in Evanston, Skokie, etc and should have known better. I feel no empathy for their stupidity. It is going to happen every time, everywhere in the world when there are natural disasters, catastrophies, or severe weather events.

What's even more funny about their stupidity is that this was forewarned for days that this blizzard was on it's way.

The cars in that picture got stuck there because of an accident that occured further up. Traffic piled up as the blizzard continued and before they knew it they were stuck. The auto accident closed down the drive.

to me it doesn't matter if the accident caused it or the storm. they knew well in advance the strom was coming and should have had some preps in the car. blankets, food, water, and maybe just maybe even some gas in there cars. either way it made me laugh to see those pictures. some people get what they get

THEY ARE :sheep:! THEY WILL NEVER BE PREPARED! THIS OCCURRED IN THE MECHA OF SHEEPLAND! In the backyard of THE GREAT ONE! We all know that. The point of the post is not to talk about the :sheep:. THEY WILL NEVER LEARN! It was to find out what are good things to have in the car, exchange ideas, tips on the subject since I imagine most here have some type of stuff in their cars or carry on them every day.

Why over the past month or so has INGO been so focuses on the sheep? :dunno:
