This happen not far from my home...

The Older Gentleman that lives there is Carl Williams he is 83 years old.

The Ritchie name in this area is sort of known for legal troubles so it is of no surprise who this is. I can actually tell you which family she belongs to and give you about 20 police blotters about that particular family.

We are actually a very small country area, we have our fair share of stupid people most revolve around drug problems, POT and METH are HUGE issues out here, that and Drinking. I live way out in the country and at least once a month I have to go pull some drunk out of their car in the ditch at the end of my road then wait for REMC to come fix the pole and the cops and the ambulance to get here.

Dog and shotgun are mandatory. I believe since it is such a small town the people like her look or easy targets and know who not to mess with.

    Good for the Old Guy.

If I knew him personally I would take him for a steak dinner.

Under many felony murder statutes she can be. I'll have to look up Indiana's as some of the more "progressive" ones exclude codefendant's deaths or require that the defendant actually kill the person.

    Best,

    Joe

ETA: Indiana's statute IC 35-42-1-1 is not nearly as expansive as some. It does not appear that it applies to this circumstance

    Indiana Code 35-42-1

That's too bad. Thanks for checking though.:yesway:

    At least that guy won't

    What guy?

So, the homeowner shoots someone in the head as they are breaking into the home. The both are apparently females. He is spending time in Pulaski County, while one is in the hospital. While the details don't look super clear, this is retarded. If it's a good shoot, then why is he in "jail" right now? Methinks there is more to this story than meets the eye. Unless something is super slanted by the responding officers or it's a bad shoot, he should be free right now.

Where do you get a "he" out of the story?

I believe DH assumed that the one that was shot in the head died and the second burglar was in the hospital, while the shooter was in jail.

How would the accomplice to the break-in be liable for the use of deadly force by the homeowner?

    excursion beat me to it...

it makes any participant in such a felony criminally liable for any deaths that occur during or in furtherance of that felony.

Fargo pointed out that unfortunately in Indiana it doesn't appear that she will be held accountable.
