Shot a Glock 19 on Monday. It was the first Glock I've ever shot...

I can now safely say, they don't work well for my massive mitts.... felt like the damn thing was going to fly outta my hand with every round... I was really hoping to like shooting it too... they do look kinda sexy! ;)

Unfortunately I do not believe the Glock is for me. :(

Am I missing something, or does anyone else share my feeling on the Glock? it was an older 19.... have they changed much?

Size hasn't changed. 19s are alright. Maybe a 17 would have fit u a little better.

Just glad u aren't bashing them. While I really like my 17, I also like the Sig P226s and Xds. They have different feels to them but I think the 226 fits me best. Medium size hands, not large, fat, skinny, or small. I guess I am an average build.

Try a Generation 2 Full Size or Compact Glock. The grips are much more suitable for shooters with larger hands since they do not have the finger grips.

The nice thing about a Glock, is it doens't matter how old it is, it will still work like a charm!

I've tried to lots of times...but they just keep falling off the target stand!

 LOL ....that was my first thought too. Maybe a nail on the target stand and use the trigger guard to hook the gun to the stand. :D Post a few pics when you finally do shoot a Glock! ;)

Everyone doesn't have to like Glocks, or even shoot them (either as a weapon or as a target! ;)). But quite a number of people prefer them, and have made one (or more) their pistol of choice. Fortunately, we live in a country where a person still has a choice in firearms ...and that's not a bad problem to have.

Possibly... don't know much about the Glock line... will have to research and find someone close by that has one and is willing to let me put a few down the tube.

I try not to bash anyone's choice, but the Glocks have always worried me.... for a variety of reasons.

If your hands are too big, try a 10mm or .45.

I may do that, but, that's yet another caliber... trying to stay with only 3 or 4, makes it easier to amass large quantities don't ya know! Also it wasn't so much that the 19 didn't "fit" my hands... just felt too light... maybe with a Hogue grip it would be better... didn't feel like I had adequate control or something... does that make any sense?

If you shoot very much I'd wager a .45 ACP will eventually be in your future. I have a similar feel to my Glock 17 and I feel like I have too much hand or not enough grip to actually control the gun. A Hogue slip on grip sleeve works wonders but I still can get a case of slide bite from time to time. The larger frame Glock 21 is a dream to shoot, so much so for me that I barely shoot my 1911 any longer.

    Chocolate is always assumed.

Bring that cute little chocolate bearer with ya, and it's a deal!
I've got to get down to Mrs.Jay's sometime soon to pick up some more landscape stuff and I intend to get some trigger time in with the BFF out of the deal. When I know I'm showing up, I'll have him call you guys!

Yep, especially if you're accustomed to steel-framed guns. The frame of a Glock weighs next to nothing, so it can feel top-heavy to folks who aren't used to it.

Also, even if you're used to the lighter aluminum frames, plastic can feel too flexible. My first Glock felt like it was going to break in half on some random shot. I tightened my grip and the feeling went away.

If you're already used to plastic, I got no idea what you're complaining about. :D
