SO effing what? Ever hear the term "presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law"? I'm not certain but I think it was the Washington case that I was reading about on here that established OC is NOT PC. It also established that once a LTCH is produced for the LEO that he can go no further in any line of questioning regarding the gun without actual PC.

Carrying a handgun is a crime unless you have your LTCH. You are thinking about an Arizona decision which has no bearing here in Indiana.

What exactly is he being fired for? Walking too closely behind someone?

yeah if i was a manager i would fire any employee for trying to intimidate or stalking a customer.

as far as an impd complaint i think that behavior needs to be noted in his file so if he ever again has any questionable interactions in the future with citizens it can be looked at

:laugh::laugh: That would be priceless. Or just start filming him with you iphone. Cops are very shy about being recorded.(wonder why?) He would have been gone like a fart in the wind.....

Great suggestion. A guy I know was recently dealing with an FBI agent following his client. He sent a couple of guys to speak to the agent and to photograph the agent's license plate and the agent. The agent jumped back in his car and hid his face. He was extremely camera shy.

So what exactly would someone who just stood & stared at the cop need "a set" for? Staring at a cop for too long?

    Remember that statement?

    :dunno:[/QUOTE]

Cause everyone knows you don't stare at a predatory animal, they all take it as a challenge to their dominance!

People crack me up. Pages upon pages in this forum in great detail about how we would kill intruders...overthrow the evil government and redeem this great Country from evil...

But let a cop who is working part time at a grocery store give you the 'ole stink eye and it's...

Link to Cops clip? Because I honestly don't think so. However, I do remember this from cops... and all this guy is doing is standing with his hands in his pocket.

All non-compliant criminals? Pretty much. If they aren't complying with a lawful instruction, I'm going to end that situation quickly, as I have no idea how far they intend to take their non-compliance.

None of that instance is legal, from the LE perspective. A person who has done nothing wrong can't be compelled to identify themselves.
I would hope when he got out of jail he had a up close and personal talk with that PUNK cop!!

    Get some.

it was more than that and you know it. the cop was trying to intimidate the guy. maybe he was a reserve and wanted some action? who knows but it wasnt right. as far as your get some balls comment what does that mean? you want people to fight the police? or do you want them to say something to them? why say anything to a cop who is trying to intimidate you? the cop probly wanted that so he could then take it a step further who knows. the fact is that some of your brotherin ARE jack booted thugs. they ruin it for the rest of you. some cops do illegal things and another portion of cops while they may not do anything illegal are just dicks to people for no reason other than they like to feel big. (those first 2 have no place in public service) and some cops are just real nice guys who just wanna do the best job they can because they love people and love their job and those are the ones I respect and applaud. but for you to just downplay this come on man your better than that.

See, and that's the thing... I don't know if he actually worked for the Kroger, or if he just happened to be there for some other reason, you know? He had an IMPD car, and IMPD attire. He was standing at the front sliding door next to some kid on a bench (between the last register and the service desk). It's possible that he could just be a Kroger cop, but I've never seen one at that store prior to this day.

I shot an e-mail off to Kroger Corporate, just to see if they could provide any info. We'll see, I guess.

To "Public Servant" - There's a large difference between "looking" at me, which I get often... and following me far too close to feel comfortable. 5 feet? Fine. 10 feet? No problem. But following me at 2-3 feet? I don't like that, and I highly doubt you would either. I'm sure you peruse threads just looking for a reason to post your humorous retort images, but I don't feel that they apply here.

There is a bit of truth in all humor. That's what makes it funny because you can look at the truth with a different twist.

However, I personally don't find anything funny about the idea that is common enough to actually be based on reality that you would need

to just stare at a cop, while it is deemed quite normal that a cop stares at a guy who's DONE NOTHING WRONG in an attempt to intimidate him into changing his lawful action.

Some things are funny (hey, did you hear the one about the ...[insert joke here that doesn't involve violation of anyone's personal safety or Rights by agents of the state]).

Some things aren't ("I wouldn't mind living in a dictatorship...as long as I was the dictator. yuk, yuk, yuk" - said by a sitting US president during a TV interview. You figure out which one.).

    HUGE UPDATE

So, I go back to Kroger tonight. I don't see him initially, but when I finish my shopping, he's at the front standing at the door. So apparently he does work this specific Kroger.

I checkout behind a lady that is VERY slow, right in front of him. I look at him, and I think he glances a couple times. He doesn't seem interested. I'm done and on my way out, he doesn't mind.

I turn around, and approach him.

"Were you here a couple nights ago?"
    He just nods
"Did you... I mean, why didn't you just ask me for my license?"
"You're wondering why I followed you?"
"The way you handled it, I felt uncomfortable."
"Well carrying like that, you make a lot more people uncomfortable."
I chuckled at this, and explained that I oftentimes get very positive and good conversations.

So, I'm just standing there listening. I'm going to paraphrase because it's all jumbled in my head (happened about 10 minutes ago). Essentially, if someone were to come in and rob the place, I'd be the first person they take out. He said legally he could have taken my handgun until I could prove it was mine. He highly disagrees with OC, and said if he didn't have to OC, he wouldn't.

He said he followed me to just make sure that I don't do anything, etc... and that even if someone was unarmed they could overpower me and get my gun if they wanted to, and he could to. I say "Well yeah, you're trained for that..." and he says there are people far more trained than him out there.

He kept pointing at mine when he said "carrying like that", and how tactically, it's a huge disadvantage, don't want anyone to know you're carrying, and that he knows it's my right to carry and protect my life, my family, my property, etc. He said day one at Police academy, they say "Never Open Carry".

Now, I feel better having talked to the officer. He seemed like a very nice guy. I disagree with some of his opinions and views, but I do appreciate him taking the time to explain why he did what he did.

Well, at least he didn't prone you out and beat you.

Cops, it seems, can have dumb opinions just like normal people. :D
