Hello is the search option broken?

This week INGO had a record number of Nagant, Ak, entry level Ar threads, 1,876,996 to be exact ALL asking the same questions ALL OF THEM

Most are asked by folks with 200 or less some 1,456 post's
Before we ask the same questions that have been asked and answered AGAIN AND AGAIN use the search option before you decide to ask another redundant, common question.

here are some examples:

"whats a good price on a M44"
Whats a Good Ak?
Whats the "best" ak lol
what to look out for when I buy a WASR
I wanna make my mosin 'tactical" how do i go about doin it?..hehe
are WASR's any good
I have pitting in my Mosin Nagant what should I use?
Are all Ar receiver made by 5 companies?
How many parts are 922 compliant?
Are Olympic AR's any good?
Conversion help wanted
are Hi-points good pistols

There are so many that always pop up that I just scan over, unless it has 20+ posts then I go and read because usually someone got flamed for saying "Glock sucks" or something and I want to read the drama.

Helping new subscribers is a GOOD thing. Maybe they'll stick around and answer our dumb questions.

That's strange because INGO has only had "Posts: 2,088,301" as of 3:26pm on August 31 2011. And since ingo was started in 2008 that means that over 90% of posts on ingo have taken place in the last week and havebeen on the subjects you listed. Just my observation.

Just to stir the pot and defend the noob, I chose 2 of your points at random and did a search. m44 price and tactical Mosin and returned no useful information. I did find a tactical rail for a mosin and a picture and smart azz coments about a tactical mosin but nothing useful. The search function is admittedly weak. I find it interesting to sometimes get a fresh perspective on topics that may or may not have been discussed before. Just don't start a thread about getting a LTCH, posting pictures, 50 post rule, etc.

I understand what indyk is getting at. I just think that in the 2,000,000 posts and ~ 17,000 users we have covered a lot of info and the ones that are asked are the most common especially to people who are new to firearms. I think he would just like to have a few people to a search because it floods rare exotic threads to be pushed further into the archives...No?...ok....

I only have 976 posts because I am able to answer most of my questions by using the search function.

As a matter of fact, the search "feature" on INGO doesn't work worth a hill of beans. Even mods will tell you to use Google, if you want to find anything. I don't blame people when they post these messages, even if they haven't used search, (because the search function doesn't work). Out of all the things on INGO that DO need fixing, that's the one that should be getting some TLC. It would go a long way towards cleaning up INGO and making things work better.
