Like my story, went up to the furniture dept. at Elder Beerman to pay for $1297 new couch and the store manager called me over and asked me to leave and put my gun in my car and not to come back in the store with my open carry firearm. I said, ok. Went back to the furniture counter and picked up my check and left, never to return. They lost a $1297 sale,:rockwoot: and took my money to another store. Problem solved!!!!!

I just went for a cleaning the other day. Since I had been openly carrying I decided that it would be best for the young lady with the water blasting device if she not saw my iron strapped to my hip so it went into the bag. Besides I got my moms child bearing hips so it can be a wee bit cramped trying to squeeze into those chairs toting on my hip.

Wait! You guys mean your dentists don't make you get undressed for a "thorough" exam? This is why I've never carried there, I couldn't CC! Holy crap, ya'll have careless dentists!

I've had several patients carry in my office. I am sure there were many more that I was unaware of. I don't do sedation or even nitrous for that matter so I have never had a reason for it to be a concern.

My doctor carries himself, and we talk about shooting on every visit. And his office is on hospital property. So whoever told you that hospitals were no-gun-zones were totally mistaken.

My dentist doesn't care one bit either.

My barber has a wide eyed look every time I take my jacket off to get my hair cut, but has never raised a fuss.

My ex-favorite local bar used to let me carry without an issue. They fell under new ownership, and promptly threw me out the first time I went back in. I now frequent the bar down the street instead. (I eat lunch at local bars pretty often, just simply because the food tends to be home cooked, and deserves to be washed down with a big tasty beer.)

The moral of the story here is that if your doctor, dentist, hair dresser, auto mechanic, etc, doesn't want you carrying, respect their wishes and find a new place to spend your money. (And make sure to tell them why.)

I was just on another on another part of this site and was reading about firearms and work, this brought up the question that if you all won,t go to a dentist that won,t let you carry or you are willing to change doctors ect...does this mean that you would quit your job if your employer does not allow firearms on company property............Just saying I,m pretty sure that there are more people kill at the workplace than at the dentist

With the new law that went into effect in July there are only a handfull of "work places" that are prohibited by law to have a gun in the parking lot. They can't fire you for it being in the parking lot, but they can trump up some other reason to fire you

No, this does not mean I would quit, I would keep carrying until they fired me if that's what they chose to do.
And in the second part of your trollish statement I quoted, Do you think disarming your employees makes them safer? If a shooter does enter the workplace, would you feel more comfortable knowing that nobody was going to have a chance to take the shooter down? I'm not getting what your driving at, although I have my suspicions.

Well, I'm self employed while I'm in college. So it's a moot point for me, since I honestly don't know. But after I'm finished, I know what I'll be worth to an employer (As I'd have racked up 80+k in investments to see to it that I'm valuable by time I'm through), so I'd be in a position to be picky. But can I say I would quit a job if I was on the other end of the economic spectrum with a few kids and little to no secondary education, relying on my weekly paycheck to see that my family is taken care of? I don't know. It's honestly not a question I can answer.

Several of your questions and comments seemed, to me, to be leaning towards trying to stir the pot. If this was not your intention, I appologize. I take my right to carry very serious, and CC everyday in the building, while on the clock. If I were to be fired for carrying, so be it, I'm a big boy and can handle it. My wife would be pissed, that's were my real problem would be.

My dentist is a shooting buddy & we usually spend some time discussing what carry gun I currently have on me. A couple of times we have gone shooting after the appointment. No carry problems there!
