    with indiana changing the max case length that you can legally hunt with next year from 1.625" to 1.8" ...does anybody know what would this would include offhand?

    *edit* Nevermind... misread the first post... it's "max" length that's changing.

    My boss has an AR in .50 Beowulf waiting for next year.


    .50 Beowulf for deer hunting! LOL, from what I understand about the round that was designed to punch through and engine block, you should be able to shoot the deer in the front and have the round exit the back of the deer. Here is a quote from an ad for a .50 Beowulf:

    "you heard right with the 380 grain solid brass Thor hammer round available from Satern machine you can do anything from knock a diesel engine out of a truck, put in a new door, split wood, even skin, field dress and mount a deer head on your wall all with just one easy trigger pull! "

    Actually, the .50 Beowulf is, roughly, ballistically equivalent to .45-70.

    what do you think about a 444 marlin trimmed down to meet the 1.80 case length..then going to a heavier bullet to meet your oal length on your bullet?

    the straight case is appealing and should pack a punch
