I was asked by a lady at work if I could eliminate a Crow that is raising hell in her yard. Evidently it is killing all sorts of chipmunks, squirrels, doves, etc. and stalking their dogs now. She has requested that I send it's spirit to the afterworld. Ok, Im good with that. They are outside city limits, so there is no issue there. Are there any other issues I should be concerned with? Or just eliminate the crow, toss it in a hole, and call it a day.....

I have experience dealing with bird pests. What is the natural enemy of a crow? Find that out, tape it to a pole, and run around your yard. Failing that, you'll need oxygen, fuel, and a heat source. Failing that, get a trained falcon.

An owl or hawk decoy will bring it in and probably some of it's buddies. Depending on terrain I'd go with a shotgun, #6 or #5, .22 if you have to reach out for it. Put your time in and you'll get it. They are SMART! and will get educated quickly. Crow season doesn't open until July 1st, but if it is reaking havok it would probably fall under pest elimination laws. May want to call a CO just to clear it.

Crows are considered game and there are seasons and limits. I would check with an Indiana Conservation Officer. A property owner may kill destructive animal on their property, though. Just explain the situation to the officer.

Alright. Thanks folks. Now that I am aware of laws on these greasy pieces of scum, I can make calculated moves.

    Again, thanks INGO!

Please e-mail your address and I will send rhino dressed up as an owl to run around the yard and scare the crow away.

Maybe a falcon costume like Jack Black in Saving Silverman?

Interesting about them being protected and soforth. I may have to talk to a buddy of mine that is in the pest removal business (coons and such) and see what he knows specifically, and if hes got something that I could use as far as not killing the bird. I aint trying to go to jail, haha!

I will admit that I have never seen or heard of a crow behaving in such a fashion.

I have seen smaller birds chase them off quite a few times though.

I havent either. Heard of them being annoying as ever, but never violent like she describes. Guess I will see it first hand soon enough though. I plan to go over there this weekend.

Crows were included in the early '70s.

uhh its killing chipmunks and squirrels AND SHE WANTS IT DEAD WHY????

Because it is taking them to her birdbath in front of her window, where her mother sits for breakfast to watch the good birds. Kind of sickening I guess. Personally, I wouldnt have a bird bath near my house, as I dont want birds near my house.

For craps sake - Tell Mrs Kravitz to get a real DOG and quit feeding the freaking rodents in her yard. Why do people get dogs that weigh less than a cat, anyway. Microwave dogs are worthless!

You feed the squirrels, chipmunks and smaller birds and the crows will come, that's feeding time for them, they are not stupid. If she continues to do this then she just needs to sit back and enjoy the circle of life. :n00b:

Outside of city limits............I'm at a loss as to why this thread even exists.
The dang crow should be dead and buried, and nobody the wiser.

Guess we live in a new age.
