Again why so much discrepancy? 3 days for some but 2 months for others? This makes zero sense to me

Figured it out. I did everything on paper, which is apparently why it's taking so long. I had no idea that L-1 was even a thing, let alone that I drive by the Crawfordsville office everyday on my way to work. I still feel that people who do it on paper are unfairly being passed over by people who just happen to have heard/known about the L-1 method before applying.

If I had to guess, the L1 route gets the prints sent electronically and immediately. The ink ones get mailed...after someone remembers to give them to the person who mails them off...after they sit around on a couple of desks at the sending end...then a few more at the receiving end...then...

I disagree since I and all others that chose to use the L1 option had to pay an extra fee. That fee is no different than ordering something and paying expedited shipping. If.... I say again if the L1 option was free I would agree with you.

How much is the fee? Is it enough to make a six to eight week difference make sense? Since the envelope was priority mail and making a 45 minute drive I think it's safe to assume it was received the next day. How long does it take to document fingerprints? The background check was done on the local level. What else is there to do?

Also I mailed it myself so there is no waiting for someone to do that part.

The L1 option removes the fingerprinting step at the state level.

With the traditional method, someone has to take the fingerprint card, scan it, enter it, or what ever they do. Imagine boxes and boxes of fingerprint cards, and someone paid by the hour to go through them. Im guessing it takes a while.

With the L1 method that is already completed by a private company and the info forwarded to the state.

You pay the extra for the service L1 provides, which happens to speed up the process quite a bit.

Initially applied 5 July, L1 process.
Today I checked with with the local PD to see what the hold up is. Turns out my submission got jammed between them and state on the submission. Not only does this mean my whole wait process starts all over again, but they told me this has happened before! They did a pretty thorough job of peeing in my wheaties today.

I finally got mine today! :rockwoot:
I applied on May 3rd and found out just yesterday that the local PD didn't send it in until July 27th. So once the state had the info less than 2 weeks for me.
