Ive known for quite some time that Gander Mtn runs high on ammo prices but after today Im not buyin ammo there again. They had Winchester white box 45 auto 230gr ball 100 round packs for 64.99!! Go right next door to Wal-mart and they sell for 39 dollars for the exact same box of ammo. Im not sure how that isnt illegal lol but they do it. Maybe this can serve as a heads up to those new to shootin so you dont get burned by their crazy prices.

Every now and then you can find a sale on things but you're right, they're usually quite high. I think they count on the average joe just walking in and paying whatever price they offer rather than shopping around.

I've purchased ammo there before when Wal-Mart is out of stock, or didn't have enough of what I was looking for. I took a cell phone pic of the shelf with the box of what I wanted. I believe is was a 100 round box of Remington/UMC JHPs in .45 ACP. Gander Mountain was about $20 higher per box then Wal-Mart. I asked if they would match it, and they did.

Because we're fortunate enough to live in a country of free markets. Don't like it, go to walmart... :dunno:

Anyone who thinks we have a country of free markets must have failed high school economics class.

I don't think you can go to the gas station and drop a deuce without encountering a government regulation. In fact, I know you can't.

you guys don't understand, Gander Mountain ammo prices are not high, they are just the right price for the uneducated people. And that is who gander mountain caters to in there gun department.

Stores sell actual ammo, besides rimfire? Who knew?!

I can't fathom the idea of thinking $39 for 100 rounds of 45 is a "good deal". After tax, you're still looking at 40 cents per round. Reloading FTW! :)

Oh, and don't buy your reloading equipment or components at GM. ;)

Stopped by GM today just to browse around. Found out that the same Federal Value box of .40 S&W that I bought at Walmart for 27.99 was 47.99 at GM. Needless to say I wont ever buy ammo at GM. Never have, never will.

The GM in greenwood tried to tell me I had to check my weapon at the door and be zip tied just to look around. I did an abrupt 180 and left. I still go in every now and then to fondle guns I will never buy from them.

Interesting... I believe there is another thread on here that spelled out GM's policy on that. The LTCHers do not have to check in their legally carried (open or concealed) sidearms. Only firearms that are brought in for repair or quotes must be cased and checked in at the customer service desk.

My Lady and I were in GM the other night and I priced the Win 115 gr FMJ roundnose ammo-28.00. They had plenty, harumph...
