Its official folks, a small minority of disgruntled workers can kill your job.

Hostess brands is now just a memory. With a total workforce of over 18,500 employees, there were less than 10% who decided to go on strike. And now the financially struggling company, which has had problems for 10+ years, is shuttering its doors and closing.

18,500 employees, of which 17,000 were NOT supporting a strike, and of which MOST are members of the union but did NOT want a strike, will now lose their jobs because roughly 1500 walked a picket line and would not return to work. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all :(

Can't really blame it on the strike. It was only a matter of time.

No, I think they CAN blame the unions. They were being dragged down by high wages, benefits packages and pensions they could not continue to pay. The union refused to concede anything, even though EVERYONE in the country has had to make cutbacks.

    So yeah, **** the unions.

The union leaders are part of the big picture to turn the USA into a 3rd world country...they are one of the reasons our jobs are shipped overseas. As for hostess the government does not want people eating snacks like that anyway.

The company, founded in 1930, was fighting battles beyond labor costs, however. Competition is increasing in the snack space and Americans are increasingly conscious about healthy eating.

It was t the union's fault...it was all you carrot stick eatin', health nuts out there that killed 'em off.;)

Yeah, I say **** the unions too! But unless they figure out how to put "healthy" lipstick on a twinky, they're just doomed to fail. Unions just helped them realize that sooner.

Where is the Twinkie Bail Out? I'm outraged! So you think you deserve a great wage, benefits, and a pension because you shove a stem into a pastry and fill it full of icing?

Why do entry level employees demand so much? Fire them and replace them with the thousands of folks begging for a job.

Yeah, screw the unions. Boo to high wages, benefits, and pensions! We deserve the right to work for less! Well, thanks to ObamaCare, maybe they can all get two part time jobs and not worry about wages or benefits.

When you wonder why the middle class continues to shrink, consider your "screw the unions" mind set and wonder if that plays a part.

On a side note, the union makes an easy scapegoat, but Hostess already went through one bankruptcy and their current bankruptcy was filed for before the strike started. Do your own research and see where there debt lies and how their sales were going down due to a changing concerns by consumers (more health concerns, more vilification of sugar).
