Well if you are using an optic, it is prudent to have BUIS, that's why they are called BACK UP. Optics help, but if it goes down, you've got iron sights. I never understand why people would pick an AR, take the carrying handle off to mount an optic and not even consider back up irons.

I am not a fan of AR pistols.

    Totally agree.

I use the carry handle to not only carry but put the optic up where I can actually use it. I have BUIS as well. There are two flip up's and the standard piece in the handle. It really works once put on point.

    Use-em if ya gott-em

I don't follow. Those devices are intended for one purpose, fun. No one should consider it anything but a toy. I realize bump firing is fairly easy without the stock, but the slide fire stocks make it very easy and controllable. I'd love to have a RDIAS, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

I think I'd rather meet someone at the range with one of those, than someone with 20lbs of "tactical" gear all over them and their AR.

(I do not own a Slide Fire Stock, but I would... and probably will eventually)

I can get the same result without the extra hardware. I had a chance to try out the Slide Fire a couple weeks ago, I was able to get the same ROF from my Stag M2. I would rather put the funds into mags or an Aimpoint.

10 inch or shorter barrels with a butt stock shooting rifle calibers, other than a cool factor i see no reason to have it. why not a pistol cailber, your not shooting 100 yrds or even 50 with this style of gun.

MAGPUL rear MBUS... Don't like having the small aperture being the only option on flip up, would rather the larger aperture be default. Or at least an option for it to be without removing smaller one.

I dislike those persons that think if an AR is not leaking oil from it they will not run properly.

I also dislike those persons who have ARs that are afraid that they might break if they are used to harshly...

I hate the slotted screw that holds the grip on. It's a pain in the ass to get it into the hole. A phillips or socket head cap screw would be much easier, just stick it on the wrench or screwdriver and put it in the hole. I always swap them for a socket head cap screw.

11.5" upper with a 5.5" flash hider :noway:.

One gives up 5 in of barrel length and gains nothing other than a silly looking upper....

    Right here.
The only thing I dislike about my AR is that it doesn't have a "Jihad" position on the safe/fire switch. Also I'm not a fan of the Mall Ninja look...just keep it simple.

I'm not a fan of the CAR buttstock, A2 Pistol Grip, flat trigger guard with the horrendous gap that rubs against your middle finger, Slide Fire stocks (quickest way to waste money in my opinion, plus I think it looks dumb), Heat Shield handguards, AR Pistols (I'm just not a fan, don't care if I have to wait for my stamp to come in), Magwell Grips, Bullet Pictograms (I just don't like them, I'll only do the "Safe, Fire" on my AR's), gargantuan muzzle devices, "ergonomic" pistol grips (the ones that are contoured so that your hand fits in the pre-fabricated areas of the grip, I'm just not a fan).

This isn't a list of things I hate about the AR-15, this is a list of things I am not a fan of. If it were a thread about things I hated then the list might change a little bit.

Quite the list of dislikes... also, 181IW or 122FW?

Edit: nevermind, I just looked at your location, so I'd imagine it is safe to assume 122FW.

The part I dislike the most about the platform, is the people that have them and have zero training in firearms safety or how to properly use the rifle. They think... Hey man, I have a AR15. You can now call me Billy Bad Ass, or Bad Ass for short. I would guess that also falls into the Mall Ninja area.

I dislike that I cannot get another barrel for my LMT Monolithic upper due to the waiting list/back log. I am forced to build another upper receiver to have something to play in the extended ranges Accurately.

I am quite used to this, but not a fan of..... the TRIGGER... it feels like there is sand in the mechanism regardless of the rifle manufacturer, even in my M4 overseas. You spent the money to make this awesome rifle and you skimp on the trigger. Even the factory RRA two-stage sucks, albeit an improvement over the rest. The only real option is to put in an aftermarket trigger group. Then again... you can always polish a turd and get some work done to the factory trigger. It will be better, yet still a turd.

The rifle is a great platform that will grow with one as their ideas change. You can endlessly customize it to suite whatever "Needs" you have.

this type of mount is useless if you do anything more than a little range shooting from a bench.

I found that the cmore on my colt, which mounts like the optic in the photo, serves quite handily.
