With pending legislation that could possibly ban the sale of 30-round magazines among other possibilities, what will the next 1500 bring us? Will the crowd be more than ever before and will the vendors increase prices in light of this possibility? Will those who have been staunchly opposed to the 1500 choose to visit and obtain equipment that is no longer available at their LGS or online? Since ARs are flying off the shelves, will there be any ARs or magazines available at the 1500?

This is going to be interesting.

yup. could be interesting. I might go just for the experience. :D

    are the tables sold out?

I wasted a bunch of money back in '94, and don't plan on doing that again.

It will be a mad house, just like the Jan. 2009 after Obama was elected the first time, at that time it was just the thought that he may do something.
This time around is the real possibility that he will do something.

Let's hope the dealers will not take advantage of the situation, but I suspect they will.

After the Aurora shooting, I went to the next Indy 1500. There was a line around the building and it took about 40 minutes for me to get in. This was on Friday at about 5pm. People were telling me that the line and waiting time were even longer earlier in the day.

Of course they will! It's business in a capitalistic system. Price is set by demand. Profits increase when demand increases. Profit is the goal. Kipling wrote lines similar to this:

If he play, being young and foolish,
Take is money, my son, praising Allah.
The fool was born to be sold.

If one wants it, one will pay anything for it. The seller makes a nice profit. You would do the same, wouldn't you? It's just business. :)

From what I've seen in the last few days if there's something you really think you need I would get to a shop and get it. Shops are running out of the "hot" items and the distributors are getting cleaned out in the process. IMHO the Jan. 1500 could very well be slim pickings and more empty tables than you have ever seen in that venue.

I will not be attending. We have all we need for now. I hope all who go do not get trampled and gouged by the onslaught of 1st time buyers, coonfingerer's, lookers, tire kickers and the just curious. It will be a big win for the promoters as the door will be stacking up the cash.

I was debating even going after the last 1500....... and now with the CT tragedy and all the nuts trying to buy everything up Im not sure that I will go at all. We shall see.

The only thing I would like some more of is some AK mags, but Im sure they will be more than the $10 a mag Im willing to spend.

You could find them if you looked, at least at shows in the last few months I've seen them on occasion. Probably the last time I got them for $10 was online about this time last year.

Going to some of the area gun shops to shoot the bull would be way more enjoyable than going to the January 1500.
I went to the January 2009 Indy 1500. We got there early and more or less walked right in. The next thing we knew the place was packed well beyond maximum capacity. You could not move, you could not see a table let alone get to one, people were pressed up against you on all sides - constantly.
It took a long time just to get back to the door. We left.
I wouldn't go if every AK mag that Russia has was there at 5/$1.00

I was planning on finally attending the 1500 this January, but hard to say for sure now. May just make a trip up to Bradis instead. Time will tell.

They sold out of ARs and magazines. I'm sure they will get in new product by then and hopefully it will be a lot.

gander mountain was packed with folks looking at and buying AR's on Saturday here, and we also had a gun show it town that same day. I saw two guys I know at GM buying because of the school shooting and fears over legislation to ban them.

Haven't seen any steel surplus for $10 ea for a good while either. Tapco could be had @ 10, if one was so inclined. $15 was going rate at the last few shows I've seen.

I intend to hit the 1500 come Jan, should be fun:rolleyes:

Assuming my atomic bonds hold until then :D
