He's been talkin' :poop::poop: that cannot be backed up, so he had to do something to keep the dialog alive. This was it.

So where is my cheap ammo and magazines? Cmon gougers, time to take a loss and come off of it.

give it time and deals might start rolling in.

I'm all for the research from the CDC. It'll finally show the anti's that gun owners are RESPONSIBLE, GOOD PEOPLE. And that the ones that commit crimes do so with illegal guns (stolen, 9 times out of 10), are mentally unstable, or both.

Highly doubt that'll be the conclusions.

Agreed. It seems unlikely this will get through Congress and then prices should return to normal.

It won't be the same normal we had before. It will take a bit for the "traders" to realize the market has dropped along with their investments. "Out of stock" is still "out of stock", companies will likely ride that for what they can. It took years for prices to get competitive the last frenzy.

We are still not away from the threat. We know the opposition will use whatever they can, ie, exploiting children, etc. Backdoor underhanded :poop: is still possible also.

Yep waiting for the calm to come back and buy then...

Everyone knows congress will not pass it, even Clinton said the first ban was what lost them control of the house I think it was.

Politics will play in our favor for once.

    NOT NECESSARILY. . .

According to a law review journal article by award-winning criminologist Don Kates and several physician co-authors,

Even more unfortunately, CDC and other health advocate sages build their case not only by suppressing facts, but by overt fraud, fabricating statistics, and falsifying references to support them.[261] The following are but a few of the many examples documented in a recent paper co-authored by professors at Columbia Medical School and Rutgers University Law School.

Getting the AWB approved, thru congress will be a tough sell!!! If it does NOT get approved, I look for BHO to try some enormous tax on his interpretation of "assault" weapons.

People, don't take for granted things will not pass. He was re-elected which I thought was impossible. Join the NRA, write your representatives, and tell your friends and neighbors to join and write as well. We all want things to go back to "normal" and will have to work to get there together.

To the OP, not necessarily as he did say he is putting it to congress to renew or come up with a version of the famous, useless clinton stupidity which didn't stop the massacre at Columbine, and he specified a ban on magazines holding more than 10 rounds.

Getting it through congress is another thing.

At least he called them magazines!

This is a long way from over. Prices won't come back to "normal" until the democrats are gone. Anybody who thinks they're going to be buying $3 Pmags anytime soon is a fool.

This is just getting started. Gun prices have doubled, and that sucks, if you don't have what you need. Just keep in mind, in '94 prices quadrupled, and never went back to what they were before Clinton.

you ASSUME it will be done scientifically. Remember, the global warming nonsense has been pushed by NASA.

Government entities LIE. And they ALL have an agenda. Just look at the EPA.

If you feel relieved after today's events, you aren't applying your gradeschool civics lessons to real life. Did we "avoid" anything today, sure, POTUS could have modified import restrictions, and maybe some other things under EO, but these are executive orders he is signing, not new laws. EO's affect how the exective branch does it's job of executing laws. I guess many were assuming he would try to circumvent the process and create new law. While I don't put that past any POTUS, he knows there are lots of eyes on this.

what he did is initiate the process for new legislation for an AWB/mag restriction and end to private sales by making a request to congress. That's what a POTUS CAN do to create new law.... make a request. We know Feinstein has an answer to his request ready to go and it will most likely be introduced to the senate next week.

What we saw today was the process initiating. NOW is the time to strap in and get to work. I had been holding off on my letters / calls to congress until I saw what the POTUS' request to congress looked like, and what the legislation would look like. NOW we have something to fight.

We haven't "won" anything yet. The fight was just announced.

Saw on Drudge that the stock markets are rewarding gun manufacturers. To me, this says that the markets realize any sort of AWB will drive prices up and increase margins, but that the companies will still figure out a way around any new laws. :)

Either that, or they think the legislation won't pass, and in the meantime, the gun mfrs will make a bunch of profit.

    Interesting stuff, though.

Now, I think it will be awhile before EBR prices get back to "normal."

Edit: Although, I just saw a price quoted on a rifle in the classifieds that piqued my interest! Looks like the EBR price inflation is extending to some of the "unusual" guns, like the CETME.

I disagree. We have hard facts and numbers now to show that banning guns aren't going to fix things. What makes you think anything they dig up will be taken any more seriously?

Agendas are ALWAYS forwarded with reckless intent.

Yep... He basically made a wish list of the "evil" guns and "clips" he wants to ban, knowing full well any ban cannot pass the house or senate. He's on record being against the "evil" guns, and when the ban inevitably fails to pass the house and/or senate, he can blame republicans.

    It's the Obama Two-Step.
