There will obviously be extra security measures in place at the Mini Marathon this Saturday. Does anyone know if concealed carry is prohibited for spectators?

Not legally prohibited - but probably against the organizer's wishes - though I can find no mention of anything related, for participants nor spectators, on their website.

I'd be more curious of how they view it for participants.

    why? well I carry when I run/train etc. ...
why would I give up my SD for a public (potentially targeted) event ?
    :dunno:

I volunteer every year at the start line for the Mini and I would say if you are going to carry, carry concealed. I'm not looking to start anything hear but I am hearing there will be LOTS of extra security thanks to the boneheads in Boston. They're telling us not to bring backpacks unless you want to get stopped and searched frequently. Because of this, I suspect any OC'ing around the course may be pulled aside for questioning.

What do I gather from this? Always be ready to video tape. Do not give up your rights.

National Guard will be at the corrals searching bags. If you're a spectator, you won't be let in. I understand the latter half of that.

What I don't understand is that if you're just a spectator on public property, if you're carrying a bag you will be searched. . . . so unconstitutional.

Impromptu 2A rally at millitary park?

It is public property, however there is an event going on, which has an equivalent event in another city that was attacked. Your rights mean nothing to them. I'm sure you could also argue that it's the same as any events going on at Lucas Oil.

So, if I want nothing to do with the mini, and I'm just walking through the city to get to a friends house to do some reloading with my pistol powder in my backpack.....

Where do we draw the line folks? Seriously? If the above were to really happen, which is in no way illegal, I would be illegally detained, searched, and most likely held for a long period of time. :ar15:

    Honest question:

Is the ING legally allowed to do this? Sounds to me like they're effectively going to be used as law enforcement?

I'm in no way condoning what they are doing, I would prefer to be unchecked anywhere I go, but the mentality of people these days is exactly what I posted.

I agree. I dont want to be searched either, but on the other hand im not doing anything illegal and if it helps to stop people from a getting hurt in a disaster especially kids then im ok with it.

If I tried to run it I would NEED to carry (heck, someone to carry ME, more likely). I doubt I'd be able to fight off a 2 yr old covered in jelly at the end! :)
