I've been using the WikiArms website for a couple calibers, right now there is some cci subsonic on there for .08 usd per round. Not the best price in the world but if you need, NFA Day is worth it.

Once the participants are chosen I'm sure you could start a thread to do a bulk buy and split it up once there as well, you won't be the only person on the ammo hunt.

Evan, could you provide more info about supplying ammo? For example, what calibers, factory-new or reloads, etc. I would imagine that the owners of these expensive weapon systems would appreciate having the right ammunition in them.

Just finding enough ammo between now and then might prove to be a fruitless task these days, sadly. :(

Based on Evans OP the planning committee just had its first meeting, it's probably a bit early to know who's going to be supplying what as far as firearms. You probably couldn't go wrong with .45acp, 9mm (147gr for suppressors), 5.56/.223, 7.62x39, .22lr (subsonic). Though that's all guesswork, I'd imagine there will be at least an AK, AR, and .22lr suppressors there. I'd also wage on one or both at 9mm and .45acp.

Downside is, any automatics will chew through your ammo faster than a doberman through a twinkie, but that's also the upside, right?

If someone asked me today what ammo to stock up on for NFA Day (the vendor and gun lists are still being worked out), I would tell them the following:

9mm supersonic (for SMGs) and subsonic (for cans)
    .45ACP
    .22LR subsonic
    7.62x39
    .223/5.56
    .300BLK subsonic
    12ga

You can pretty much guarantee there will be *something* (or multiple somethings) to shoot in all those calibers. Once the list is published, you can figure out any specialty calibers you'll want to shoot (5.45x39, 5.7x28, 7.62x25, .308, etc).

I'd be willing to bring some NFA toys for the N00bs to play with. I don't need to shoot anyone elses's toys. Seeing N00bs smile makes me happy. :ingo:

Wonder if the police will be called this year and it be put in the newspaper?

Most years the police get a call or two reporting "machinegun fire in the area". Sometimes we even make the weekly police blotter in the local newspaper. But they can never locate the range.

So last year, as shooter521 pointed out, we went proactive and just had the police attend in the first place. :D

any idea what dates it will be?

Can't say definitively just yet, as vendor selection is still being worked out, but most likely it will be late September, similar to years past.
