The link below is about Todd Starnes and says a lot about the climate of Facebook. I can't figure out why people use it??? I guess I'm old school because I don't text, tweet, Facebook, or any other such nonsense. We know about the harvesting of Information that goes on (I believe it is much worse than what has been revealed) yet people use smart phones and drive vehicles with tracking ability. Our government considers you a terrorist if you use cash to purchase even a cup of coffee. We are in trouble in the US and close to being a banana republic. :xmad::xmad::xmad:

Mods, if I posted this in the wrong place please feel free to move it.

OP, do you not think INGO is monitored? You still post and read INGO, right? Is there a difference that I'm not seeing?

Facebook, a place I get to irritate many people with politics and have slowly gotten a few to open their eyes. Pretty impressive when you get one hard core liberal start posting up those snippets from Ron Paul

Of course I do, but don't you think it is in your best interests to make your electronic footprint as small as possible? Maybe I'm paranoid, but given the last year I don't think so.

It is more impressive to me when a hardcore republican does so without attaching a comment about how crazy/dangerous Ron Paul was to the country.

You're assuming that is the only method for tracking your behaviors and movements. There are plenty of other ways. Seen all the hoopla about license plate scanners mounted to police cruisers and connected to traffic cameras? You simply treat facebook and other online forms of communication as public. If you want something to be private, you should probably be having a face to face conversation. Even then odds are that a private conversation will still make it to other people. Most facebook users are naive or don't care that their info is being monitored or mined.

Personally I use facebook as a source of information. Some good, some bad, some entertaining. Nothing more, nothing less.

I threw my tin foil hat away years ago. If they want to come after this fat 50+ gray-haired rural gravedigger they're going to do it no matter what i'm doing. Living in paranoia and staying away from places like Facebook, Ingo, etc. isn't going to stop or even slow them down if they do indeed want to come after you.

Don't look up and always wear a hat and dark sunglasses. Even when you're in the house ! ;)

To bug people. Sometimes I'll post things that have happened, but leave out most of the details.

Like yesterday I put on facebook "Police just left my house"

People blew up my phone and fb page because of it... all for someone coming over and saying hi who happens to be a leo.

If you can't stop yourself from posting your terrorist-related plans, or bragging about your latest bank robbery then yes, you should stop using FB.

I, however, am quite happy posting the latest photo of me and my newest great-nephew for my distant friends to see.

My facebook feed has better news than anything I can find. I get more updates on how the gov't is stealing our rights, poisoning our food, and eroding our way of life than anywhere else.

At the very least it is refreshing to see that some 600 people on my facebook feed are awake.

Changes will come from social media, not from locking myself up in my basement.

Honestly, I don't care about my carbon or electronic footprint. You can certainly stay off of FB if that's your choice, but for the reasons you described, I would suggest removing yourself from INGO and any other gun-related boards.

I continue to use it as much today as I ever have. . . I look at it every couple of weeks for a few minutes and then remember why I don't look at it more often.

It is the fastest way for me to see the most recent photos of my 15 month old grandson. The government be damned, that is worth whatever risk there might be. Plus, I might be just a tad contrary in my old age.
