Ad interesting thought comes to mind when reading this thread. When you carry a knife, do you regard it primarily as a tool or a weapon?

This came to mind as I was reading the variety of blades that some people carry. I have three knives that I carry, one more regularly than the others. However, I think I will try to get down to carrying one knife regularly and leave the others in the drawer.

Why? Because if I need to use that knife as a weapon, then I better be able to open it under stress and the best way to ensure that is to carry the same blade consistently so I am 100% used to that knife when it comes out of my pocket.

Anyway, this is a somewhat incomplete thought and perhaps a bit off topic. But just my :twocents:.

knives ARE tools. a very flexable tool.

then again, i would kill someone with a pixie stick if i had to to defend my life or others, if i had to.

Well forever I have carried a Kershaw Onion. Made in the USA. I have been told that Kershaw is / has gone to / will start having their knives made complete or parts made in CHINA. That's the end of Kershaw for me. I even call Kershaw last year to confirm and the woman on the phone tried to convince me it would be the exact same quality.

    Yeah Right! Exactly the same.

Spyderco Delica 4. I have a few, since I tend to misplace them. Great letter/box opener and nail cleaner. :):

I always have my kershaw blackout on me, along with a cheaper small folder in my left pocket for more work use. I have a nice selection of many various knives to choose from, but I like the blackout for its quick opening and holds edge real well.

Folder rotation is Chris Reeves, Benchmade, Swamp Rat, Spyderco, & Kershaw. Dropped the ZT (Strider/Kershaw) and never caught on to Strider. The Microtechs are gone now that I'm in Indy.

Fixed are mostly Swamp Rat or Busse.

I had been carrying a Smith and Wesson S.W.A.T Great knife. I am currently trying out a Gerber Evo, It's much smaller.

For defensive use, Emerson LaGriffe, Commander, CQC-7, or a MicroTech or two(outside Indiana of course). For utility purposes, Spyderco Endura or Delica. If a fixed blade is called for a Swamp Rat or Boker/Nealy MCS, or Cold Steel Recon Tanto work for me.
