This is the story of a wealthy family that was robbed and the husband and wife were shot dead. They leave fistfulls of kids behind!!!!:xmad:

Up to 8 People Involved in Murder of Florida Couple With 16 Kids - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News - FOXNews.com

Three robbers hit the front door and three hit the back door. It also appears the home did not have the doors locked.....

This applys to all of us, but if you live off the road or have the appearance of being wealthy to others-take note.

    MY 2 cents....to prevent this

have a driveway alarm if you have a long driveway
    have some dogs
    lock your doors
    turn on your alarm

    any others to add?

Have multiple guns in different rooms of the house.
I second that. Also, reinforce doors at entry points. Most doors are framed with 1/2-1" screws that only penetrate door trim. Get a reinforced doore plate with 3" screws that will drive deep into the door frame. This will slow them down and give you a little more time. Don't ever answer doors if you don't know the person. Of course all that is pointless if you don't lock the doors.
You can also have a safe room in the house during a break-in. Some people put external metal doors with reinforced frames in thier safe room as well.
In the end the most important thing is to be able to react quickly and get to a firearm before they get to you.

In Argentina they learned to live by new "norms". One was to answer the door from a second floor window. You can yell whatever needs to be yelled from there.

Most farm ambushes were either small ones at the gate to the road when you got out to open it, or were mass attacks at night with 5-15 attackers. In the latter case dogs were usually killed a day or two before with poisoned meat.

Lastly, it became practice to never stop completely at a stop light or sign at night. Most city attacks at night were at crossroads and on vehicles that stopped.

And, sad to mention, if they got you before you got in the house - do whatever you have to do, even die, before letting them in. Whatever awaited you inside was far, far worse than death.

We are not there yet, but it would do good to read about life during the years of economic disaster in Argentina.

Farmers were hurt bad. Some say worse than city folks.

Be careful, be safe, be well armed.

Keep in mind the windows.... Form a 'rural watch' with your neighbors... and if you do not have an AK or AR semi automatic rifle, at least put one on order.

It was a "hit," they never made it out of the bedroom. They went through front and back doors at the same time. Regardless of doors locked or not, it was a coordinated attack.

I know the Brother of the dead wife.

PS truns out they went through 3 entrances at once and used shotguns

It is not difficult to create fatal funnels inside your home if you plan accordingly. The problem is being able to react and respond with haste and making shots count.

It was dawn and they were asleep.....
No, it was early evening and the 2 staff that help with the kids and one of their biological kids had just left 15 minutes earlier.

It does not matter, this will be the center of much discussion among my circle of friends. It already is. It reinforces there is no prize for going fast, just winning. All points of entry should be hardened and then as posted above, you funnel them to you.

A steel door on interior rooms like a bedroom are a must. I am finally putting one in this weekend.

I would ask that you reflect on the damage done here and keep those kids in your prayers.

Remember the recent slaughter in Indy. City or country, more than one shooter both times and shotguns. As far as I am concerned, given a choice, Carbines and shotguns first, handguns 24/7.

    I stand corrected

    I stand corrected.....

This is an eye opener in many ways

Alot of us have homes with bedrooms on different levels.

Do we know the reason yet for this "hit or robbery"?

They're saying robbery but it sure doesn't seem like that's all.

Florida couple's slayings put spotlight on sheriff - Yahoo! News

Eddins said robbery was the main motive for the crime. A safe was taken, though authorities won't say what was in it. Morgan said there might be more arrests.
Morgan told the CBS "Early Show" on Wednesday that the attackers had trained well in advance.
Morgan said investigators had "verified yesterday that this team, this group of people, had been in training at least 30 days, a month, prior to the execution of it at the Billings' compound."

All suspects are now in custody. Prayers for the children.

I agree that there must be more to this story. I'm sure that there were easier marks (out of town with art, TVs, etc.). This home was targeted. Why?
