Where is this 40% discount thing coming from? I don't see that anywhere and I have an effected firearm

When I entered my serial, it said my rifle was effected by the recall, paragraph below said something like "we know we've disappointed you... Bla bla... Here's a 40% discount code....

I hear you loud and clear. I'm just saying something is better then nothing. They could have offered nothing. Any attempt to provide some level of customer service in this day and age should be recognized as such. Mistakes happen, cest le vie.

Regardless, I'm with you and Rhino. If I can just send the trigger, that would obviously be the preferred method!

I read the recall, and as far as I can tell it is just a clean and inspect thing that Remington is wanting to do. I do not feel like taking the scope and bi-pod off, or chancing that they will either deny the recall, or replace the stock on my rifle since I free floated the factory stock, and do not feel like redoing that entire operation. Factor in the lost time with my rifle, and the ammo spent sighting it back in (when I could be shooting it and enjoying it as I have been for the last few years). I removed the epoxy from the trigger adjustment screws first thing when the rifle came home with me, and it has not given me the first bit of issue over several hundred rounds sent down range. My wife, upon hearing about the recall said "Why not just replace the trigger with the Timney that you have been looking at?" And people wonder why I love her!:wwub:

When I entered my effected rifle, I did not get that paragraph, but I checked my uneffected rifle and it gave me a 20% discount code.

It does seem like upgrading and replacing the trigger will solve the problem. I wonder if they'll say definitively if it will or not. Does anyone have any opinions on other triggers besides Timney or is that the best for the Rem 700 platform?

Oh and I'll think I'll pass on buying Remington products for awhile regardless of a discount code. (Well...if it's a 100% discount on an R1, I would take it ;))

A subassembly (trigger), when detached..........cannot declare a full system (rifle) as safe.
Simple CYA stuff, sending the whole rifle back.
Surely they have a R700 AAC-SD laying around that they can stick my trigger assembly in to for "testing". :dunno: No way am I sending my rifle in with my scope mounted and they are crazy if they think 40% off something I dont currently even need will make up for time and ammo needed to rezero the rifle.

Stuff you probably know but just in case. I just got off the phone with them. Remington confirmed if you replace and upgrade with an aftermarket complete trigger you are good to go.

My R700 AAC-SD is part of the recall as well. I havent had any issues with the triger or anything, no accidental disscharges. I just mounted a new scope and bipod and i am not going to take everything back off just to send it back to Remington for god knows how long. They can keep their 40% and I'll just keep my rifle! If it aint broke, dont fix it! After buying this rifle though, I do kinda wish I would have gone with the Savage 10FP. Oh, well!:dunno:

No doubt part of declaring the RIFLE safe is having the trigger installed by one of their people.

Having seen a ton of home firearm mods/repairs/adjustments by John Q Public..........I'll side with Remington on this one.

Once they log in the rifle, do the "fix" and declare it safe..........any further mods or trigger swaps become the liability of somebody else.

I talked to Remington yesterday. They could not give me a turn around time to fix their blunder. If they take as long to answer their phone, to fix triggers, it might be months or longer. Timney here I come. Tried to locate a Jewell trigger but out of stock everywhere. Really disappointed with the "new Remington company". Should have got the Savage! Their 40% offer at Remington Country is weak! Another ex- Remington customer.

Nothing against Savage, but they don't feel right to me. You are being a jerk to Remington over suppositions. And 40% off some of their stuff, gun parts specifically can be quite the savings.
