EAST DUBLIN, GA — A drug task force gunned down a grandfather in his home during a botched late-night raid that was based on the word of a self-confessed meth addict and burglar who had robbed the property two nights prior. The deceased man's grieving widow is disputing the official story regarding the no-knock raid that led to her husband’s untimely death.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., Teresa Hooks noticed a vehicle abruptly race down her driveway. She saw men jump out of the vehicle and approach her home, donning black and camouflage clothing, shrouded in hoods.

Mrs. Hooks bolted for the bedroom to alert her sleeping husband. “The burglars are back,” she insisted. Earlier that week, the couple’s home had been burglarized and an SUV stolen from the driveway.

David Hooks, a 59-year-old businessman, sprang from his bed and picked up a firearm, then took a defensive stand to protect his wife and home from the intruders. As he exited his bedroom, the back door of the house was breached, and gun-wielding home invaders charged in.

Mr. Hooks was fatally shot through an interior wall in a hail of gunfire. He did not return a shot. After 44 hours of searching the house, not a single trace of narcotics was found.

I hope the cops that shot there guns get the death penalty. Most likely they will get a paid vacation. One good thing about this at least the guy killed had not just robbed a store then there would be riots in the streets.

Sounds like the officers and whoever signed that warrant need to be fired at the very minimum... the department sued and the "informant" needs to be sent for the death penalty. These stories are getting old and infuriating. I guess they are lucky the homeowner didn't start firing first as a reasonable person would with your door being bashed in in the middle of the night.

Do you have any links to a non biased news source? This link provided is a pretty jaded source. From your summery of the article though it seems like something worthy of a ferguson type event, but I would like to read it from a more reputable source.

If it did happen the way you say, then maybe david hooks is the martyre needed to effect change.

Sunds like a standard search warrant with a cop in uniform knocking at the front door would have turned out a whole lot better.

When will the morons in these departments learn?

Don't worry, I'm sure Kirk will be along to tell us how the police were just doing their job and the blame shouldn't be laid at their feet.... insert purple where you feel necessary....

I'm so sick of this crap, but it's not going to stop.

Cops are humans and will make mistakes. The problem here is there was no useful underlying purpose.

They shouldn't EVER be gunning someone down to begin with because a few arrogant politicians think they can decide what substances someone puts in their body. Or if someone else wears a seatbelt, come to think of it.

This "drug task force" is also one of a million cases of government agencies looking for a problem in order to justify their existence.

More state thuggery by folks in costumes and tin stars.

    Color me shocked.

i just want to know if the thugs went home safe, because that's the only thing that really matters.

The ever reliable informant/robber claimed to have witnessed paraphernalia at the residence, and sensing the opportunity to kick some ass and bust some heads, the cops swallowed everything the informant/robber was dishing out.

Here's hoping this case makes new law to reign in rogue cops.

Here's me not being too optimistic about that.

This is the situation I am most afraid of. You can't let guys who say they are the police take you hostage, but you can't defend yourself against the police without getting slaughtered.

I wish these police departments would understand the bad position they put homeowners in when they serve these bull**** warrants.

    At least nobody got high.

    Praise ----- for that.

The guy was old and about to die anyway. They saved him years of suffering from old age.

They did thier jobs and made sure nobody was getting high without permission.

    Yea!
I am NOT AN INTERNET RAMBO!!

Just wanted to get that out of the way.

I am a law abiding citizen, I do not hang around with criminals or do
    criminal things.

If my door is kicked in I have no choice but to assume I'm being home
    invaded by ruthless felons.

So I will shoot several times in there direction.

If it turns out to be cops, there at the wrong place and ill probably be killed.

    Hope this never happens.

Theres the dilemma, someone breaks into your home, you start shooting and its the police doing a no knock raid based on a criminals word, you will get 30 bullets from an ar, a few flash bangs and 40 rounds of 9mm, you will die while they will get paid leave. All while the only innocent person in this case gets killed. What a shame, what a #$@!# shame.

I have said it before and I will say it again, police need to stop using "informants". Whatever happened to investigating and catching bad guys.

Until as significant number of these stormtroopers get toe tagged this nonsense will not stop. They face zero consequences for their misdeeds, (no matter what some may contend) and have no real skin in the game. Being sued costs them nothing, it just cost the taxpayers.
