I think I can sympathize with you here Snap, I often have felt likewise. However many folks travel about much more than others so perhaps suggesting such a geographical preface ( rather than mandating )might be another possibility?
I do believe however ,that you may be amazed at the number of folks who aren't in touch with our state's geography as well as you are and would simply ignore or be confused by such locality descriptions as go beyond city or county.

I'd support it, but I think the main problem would be how to do it without multiplying the number of subforums and making moderation and searches harder for the users. Here is my idea to possibly make this work...

Right now, when you enter a classified ad, you have to select WTS/WTT/etc. If there was another drop-down that had region (NE/NW/Central/South/etc) that ended up as part of the ad title, that would prevent creating a bunch of new subforums and would be easy to view/ignore for classifieds browsers. You would also want this new field added to Search as well.

Example: WTS [NE]: My blinged-out HiPoint
I agree with this approach.... That would be best...

Although that would make it hard for people willing to meet in multiple areas (those that travel frequently). I typically travel to NE somewhat frequently so could meet between here and there. Maybe multiple drop-downs so you could choose several different location options...

Of course that begs the question, how far down to drill the locations? 4 quadrants with Indy in the center? 9 sections? 12? 15? 16? Or do you center around major cities? Evansville, Bloomington, Jeffersonville, Columbus etc for the southern 1/3rd...

I think the city thing may be best. No matter where you live you always have to, at some point, make a trip to the cities for xyz purpose. So it only makes sense that you would be more readily able to make up a meeting time/place in a city near you (even if it's an hour away)...

Putting the region in the title of the ad would actually help a lot. Some of the NW people do that now.

Moving forward, I am going to try to do this. If for no other reason than to keep Snappy D happy.

    IKR! His and kalboy's... :):

Heck, kalboy and I just trade guns back and forth to make the northern folks salivate.

What about people who live on the "border" of these undefined regions? My guess is they'd post the same thing in multiple subforums.

Plus, I kind of like to see what's for sale even if I can't / won't buy it.

Nice idea though, let's hope people can willing post their region in the title.

It only took 6 freaking years to get pics being made mandatory. Can't we take time to do some...

How about PMing suggestions to show a region in the title to folks that aren't within central IN?

I know I haven't hit the big five-oh yet so I'm not allowed to look in the classifieds, but here is a suggestion; How about requiring members to but their town/city/county in their profile. Then when someone clicks on something they like all they have to do is look to the left and see if it worth the drive. -Jason

Folks, quit your bellyaching! Leave it alone. It works just fine as it is. Is it too hard for you to read something? You read an ad. You see it is not in your neck of the woods. Just move on. Why make everyone else change how they do things because you do not want to spend five minutes reading something.

I repeat, it is working just fine. If it ain't broke don't mess it up.

You don't need to post five times or have five sub forums. Sheesh.

Lets say they set up 5 area forums;NWI,NEI,SWI,SEI, and Central IN. As Allen said, if he has a scope he's willing to ship, he'll have to post it in each of the 5 areas Parts and Accessories sub forum. (to have the best chance of selling it)

If I'm looking for a part that someone is more likely to ship(unlike guns or ammo), I'll have to look in each of the 5 areas Parts and Accessories sub forum. (to have the best chance of finding it) What's so hard to understand????

    Sheesh
