There's no differentiation. He means what he said; it's not a means to avoid the actions - it's a means to avoid the thoughts. Yes, thinking such a lustful thought is sinful and Xtians must struggle against this. And that part of my point. Why do I struggle against sin and worldly desires if sin is just a concept created by a kook in Jerusalem? Why should I store treasures in heaven if heaven doesn't exist?

Have you plucked your eyes out, or have you truly stopped being lustful when you see a gorgeous woman?

How, or why, did the 'virtuous pagans' do so without belief in your 'kook'?

I would agree on the (Science class room part) but would encourage keeping the Bible (King James version) in the classroom....One of the biggest proponents of teaching the Holy Bible in public schools was (RIP) none other than Christopher Hitchens....Whose last book was titled (IIRC) "god is not great" where he gave his reasons for his Atheist beliefs.....

So what was his reasoning as to why the King James Version of the Holy Bible should be taught starting in 5th grade and continuing through 10th grade? Simple really..So that when one gets to be a junior and senior and begin preparing for college they would have an understanding of Western Literature of the last 2,000 years....Think about it...How many great books (and films) have been based (in one way or another) on "The Prodigal Son" Parable???? The Grapes of Wrath comes to mind but there are countless others....

Which is one of the reasons I believe....What are the odds of an unemployed former Jewish tax collector writing off the cuff, the plot premise for countless great works of literature and film?

Of course I am never afraid to undermine my own argument....How many great works of literature and film have been based on Homer's Iliad???? Quite a few...I remember reading Joseph Campbell back in the day and it's amazing how many films and books are (in one form or another) rehashing the Iliad. Remember, George Clooney may have been in it but it was Homer that wrote "Oh Brother Where art Thou".....:)

Hitch was a great man, but Atheism has no saints. As such, I hold him in no higher regard than any other doer of great deeds or thinker of great thoughts.

I didn't say science classroom either

philosophy, maybe even history if you accept the historical books and their effect on future history. Eastern and western
    No. I did.

If you want a comparative religions class where Christianity in all its forms constitute no more than 25% of the curriculum, or a Bible as Literature class in a public high school, I have no problem whatsoever with this idea, and I think it is a splendid idea. Just keep in mind, the humanities hallway is over there *points* and the science and mathematics hallway is over there *points in the opposite direction*. Do try to keep them separate when delivering the textbooks, `kay?

What's that? Oh... ignoring the endless fluff and trying to find the hidden legitimate point (often not found). Or the questioning the relevance of a particular post and inquiring if one actually "gets it" or is just posting to post?

Again, it's hyperbole. It's better to not watch Modern Family where you know something tempting may lie.

I'd argue that no Xtian eliminates lust. And that's part of the Sermon on the Mount, "Hey, you think you're good because because you follow the Judaic Law and don't sleep around? Well I say you're a sinner for even thinking about it."

why would you want to limit it to 25%
The Bible has affected history much more than 25% in at least three different cultures.
should hunduism get 25%. How about Shinto? 25%

You want "us" to stay put of the science classroom but want to restrict it in some "other" class.

whats wrong with the influences of the Bible in science?
the two are not mutually exclusive as some wish, but at worst not contradictory and best complimentary.

    first,
lust and desire are two completely different things.
without sexual desire how would we procreate?
Did God design us to be sinful so we can have kids? Sex doesn't offend God anymore than a bowel movement does (He designed both systems)

And as long as we don't combine the two, then we will be OK. :)

Huh? Did I equate the two? I do believe somewhere I said "worldly desires", which I implied sinful desires.

Let's get this straight - a lustful desire for anyone but your spouse is a sin.

As to God and sex, of course it doesn't offend him! Who had the first thought about sex? God did. He created it not only as a means to procreate but much more importantly to bring husband and wife together. And it's just plain fun.

25% Christianity. 25% Judaism. 25% Islam. Thus we hit all of the One True Faiths™®©. Then 25% for non-abrahamic religions, Shinto and Hinduism would be good. Maybe 20/20/20 for the Abrahamic religions and then 20 for polytheistic, Hindu/Norse/Greco/Roman/Druids, and another 20 for the ancestor-worship types, Shinto, Buddhism, maybe some tribal shamanism. If you want a Bible as History class, great. You want a History of Christian influences on Scientific Discovery Class, fine. But HUMANITIES WING! In the actual science classroom, it's just;. Here's how an electromagnet works. Here's what happens when you drop solid Na into H[SUB]2[/SUB]O. Here's how a frog's digestive tract works, NO BIBLES! Is this so hard a concept to process? The science classroom is for the teaching of science. You want to teach religion, go to the humanities classroom and leave science alone.

    REPORTED.

You've offended me by the mere thought of such and act ( :puke: )and by stating that God is not OK with it.
on a side note, just for illustration

God did not go back to the "dust" to create Eve. He used surgery and removed part of a rib, bone marrow, DNA, stem cells, etc
and created the feminine form of Adam.
    God never called her Eve
God didn't even designate her as "woman", Adam did that

As far as God was concerned "they" were Adam. (Man)

For anyone who wants to teach the Bible as true fact in any classroom on public school property, I have nothing but warranted animosity. Once you want to teach the Bible as religion, get thee hence to church.

Which is why Florence High School in Texas is screwed. They've become a church, and that's not permissible. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...the-first-amendment-and-hes-suing-to-stop-it/

I have no wish to teach religion.

Jesus didn't come to start a Religion
He Cam to Save the WOrld.

You left last tie I started showing Science is less sure of these foundational belief and the act. Tat would be Evolution - anthropologically and fossil records and sort of scientific proof MACRO Evolution happens. Because a plate of bacterial or a generation of Fruit Flies behaves on way (micro-evolution) doesn't mean Marco is real and any evolutionist will tell you so, then they will genuflect to the altar of science and deny they told you this or they will loose their funding.

I know why you're mad but that has only to do with religious Christians and not those who like me simply follow Jesus. When you learn the difference between religion and Faith, you are a lot closer that how you are thinking now. Now tell me I can't possibly know what I am thinking. :)
