So it turns out the Amish that live behind the property I hunt (family owned) are hurt butt about me shooting one of "their deer" this last season. The buck was at least 1/4 mile on our property, but his primary bedding area was across a fence on the Amish side. Because of this, they have declared that I was some how in the wrong. Anyways, word is that one of them wants to get the rest of the Amish families together to build a rather tall fence to keep deer from crossing their property border. This has and is going to fail miserably, just as their attempt to swindle hunting rights from my family. Anyways, I'm more concerned that they are going to just use something more petty like coyote urine or similar products along the 1/2 mile property line. Does this classify as hunter harassment? Just wondering...

Oh, and to add to the hilarity, one of the Amish decided to say that he passed up the buck below to shoot a doe that morning. (Complete lies as the buck was traveling from a completely different direction.. but still..)

As long as they're doing it on their side of the property line imo there's nothing you can point to as harassment. (Notice how I used every variation of they're in one sentence, and correctly too?).
    Nice buck.
I too hunt adjacent to neighbors that are hostile to me hunting on my family's property, but that's the breaks. I still manage to fill the freezer and you can't eat horns.

I can't post, what I would tell them, but you get the idea .....

I don't know the law, but once it crosses the property line, AFAIK, it is fair game !!!!!

The only way you get bucks like that is to let them grow, can't shoot the little bucks or they will never get that big... Maybe that's what they are talking about is they have passed this buck for years to let him get big and just hate that you were the one to harvest him ??? QDM is what its all about if you like to harvest trophy bucks, but if that ain't your thing them kill'm all....

I'd just treat it like a fool that flips you the bird on the roadway. Give them a big stupid grin and wave like they are doing the same.
They'll eventually figure out you are the bigger man then them. It doesn't pay to stir up trouble unnecessarily with your neighbors. :twocents:

I do not think it qualifies as harassment if they are doing it on their own property. I believe it would be harassment if they were doing it on public land or your property. Either way I would probably ignore it until it crossed onto your property. Than I might let them know how well the .458 socom does.

A few years ago my best friend killed a buck that was in Outdoor life. It was a 185ish inch 8 point with a 13 inch drop tine. He actually had someone tell him that he owed them 2000 dollars for the mineral's they put out to grow that buck. Karl laughed thinking they were kidding, then he realized they were serious, and laughed harder.

As long as you are hunting, tracking and retrieving on your property, there is nothing they can do about "their" deer being shot. I have a lot of deer that feel safe on my property too and as long as my neighbors are not shooting across the property line or tracking all over my property attempting to retrieve their wounded prey, there is nothing I can say or do about them hunting. They have all been informed that they no longer have permission to be on our side due to too many disrespecting the boundary and shooting deer that were well on our side when they took the shot. One neighbor in particular is an awful shot and ends up wounding more than he recovers. He wasn't happy when we told him our new rule so he now hunts elsewhere.

I put +10 on her total for ya

Thanks guys. We hunt and eat venison so I am not against people hunting, but rules are rules. I hate seeing certain deer shot because I do get a bit attached to them when they are visiting my back yard all the time, but it is what it is....we eat farm animals that are our pets and the deer are plentiful so it makes sense to put that venison in the freezer. If a neighbor shoots one of "my" deer on his property, I can't hold that against him. That is one nice buck in the OP's post. Beautiful. I could hang that head on my wall with pride.
