So I ponied up the cash for a cheap scope along with another item.

Other item shipped today, but the scope isnt scheduled to ship until... Get this... MARCH THIRD! :xmad: WTF?!?!? Are they serious?

Whatever happened to showing backorders so you can skip an item that isnt in stock?

Mad as hell... I started to look on the site for other options, but realized Im likely to replace it with yet another backordered item, so no thanks. I'll buy one locally.

I like Gary but that's happened to me a couple of times as well. Most of the time with ammo.

I'm guessing they aren't using the same inventory management db as their eCommerce site.

Yeah, While I would love to darken Alan's door for his quality scopes, but for my purposes the cheap-ish ones work OK for me. I'm not competing, trying to put food on the table, fighting for my life/country, etc. so "good enough" is fine for me. (I do hope to own one of his scopes someday)

Yep. My Chinese counterfeit BSA Cats Eye scope worked well for me. Got my Rifleman patch with it. I discovered it was a knockoff the night before the shoot. I went to download the manual for it and discovered that BSA never made a Cats Eye scope in the power range I own. Somebody made a scope, stamped their name and logo on it and sold it as legit.

I look forward to the day that I have the disposable income to buy the nice glass.

Not all of Alan's stuff is expensive. He sells some pretty inexpensive stuff, as well. And the quality is comparable to a lot of pricier stuff that's out there.

Last month I ordered five items from Sarco, and all five small items shipped on separate dates due to back orders, and they charged me shipping FIVE times

I will never use the guide again. The ship from the manufacture facility on a lot of things they have in the catalog/on line and do a very poor job of monitoring the inventory. I was a member for years but the last 2 sucked.

Sportsmens Giude got me during the panic. Ordered 1000rnds of 5.56 a few days before the onset, it went from preparing to ship to magically not available. After 1.5 years of new ship dates, finally got the "sorry, order canceled" email. On positive note, their guide gear steel toe socks hold up very well, & very comfortable.

My kids have no complaints about their "cheap Chinese ripoff" ACOG. It was purchased from an INGO member to put on top of our M4 rimfire upper, works perfectly for that application. Thinking about another one for the 10/22.

Yep, they got me on a backorder, too. I had signed up for their club because they were advertising free shipping or a rebate or something, then, after placing my order, I get a confirmation email saying the item I ordered was several months out on backorder! I promptly emailed them back telling them to cram it and refund all my money, which they did, the refund, don't know if they crammed anything.

That same day, I saw the same item on Armynavy sales, emailed them to inquire if the actually HAD the item, which they did, and had the damn thing in my hands 3 days later, no muss no fuss, and no bull****.

Sportsman's Guide is a not the best outfit. I kicked them to the curb in the late 1980's They sent catalogs for a couple more years. I actually wrote them and asked them to quit wasting their money sending catalogs, as I would not be trading with them again. They started sending catalogs again when I moved to Indiana. My wife's cousin thinks they are the greatest. Different strokes for different folks.

I bought a few things from them back in the early 1980s. My wife worked there as a temp a few years later. I never could figure them out, and haven't bought anything from them in the past 30 years.
