Pretrilogy was the first I heard of the rule of two, or the sith. I never liked it. Darth Mal was not dead?? How could that be with the Emperor and Vader? So Vader knew the Emperor wanted him dead so Luke could take his place? He had the main man at his side already. How would there ever be balance in the force with two sith and hundreds of jedi?

New theory on Rey. I could see this happening.

This theory about Rey from ?Star Wars? is pretty intense

Very interesting theory, which got me thinking about lightsaber forms. Kylo Ren seems to favor Niman (Form 5), while Rey seemed a natural at a blend of Shii-Cho's (Form 1) wide, sweeping slashes (reminiscent of Obi Wan) and Juyo's (Form 7) channeling of emotion. In fact, it almost seemed as if Rey nearly gave in to her emotions when, but for the earth rending and separating her from him, she seemed about to finish off Kylo Ren. (Force-intervention, anyone?)

Rey's use of two-handed stabbing seems to be more a matter of familiarity with her usual staff, than any association with lightsaber form (such as Shien / Form 5's use of stabs).

I really enjoyed the movie. Someone earlier mentioned that it was a "gritty" movie for Star Wars and I agree and it made the movie. The action, humor and nostalgia is what made this a great movie.

The story is unoriginal, but it is still a good story. And it has to be told to set the seen for the rest of movies.

I was hoping the silver storm trooper was a mandolorian. Hopefully Rey does become the Sword of The Jedi so we can get some Mando's in the movies, maybe even Bobo Fett.

Ben Solo sucked at being a Sith because he is not even an apprentice yet (I think).

I also didn't like the IMAX 3d. We were seated on the outside edge and it didn't work well from that angle.

Saw it again. Still really like it.

Paid more attention to certain parts, like the opening scrawl. Basically, going back to the political, the First Order is directly what was the Empire. Gotta figure it was mostly the military-industrial complex, because they have all the hardware. The New Republic is the competing government. Well. It seems like the capital system was obliterated. That'll be a fight to see who the new leaders are.

The Resistance is/was sponsored by the Republic to fight the First Order. Kinda like a proxy war. Which means, the First Order might actually be a proxy, too, if Snoke is leader of some other group. Like the Sith.

Clearly, Kylo and MVS knew each other, which convinces me (again, basically) that he is either a Jedi or a Force-sensitive helper from Luke's ill-fated Academy. Maybe a Hagrid-type part of the Academy. He spent a lot of time looking for the map, but had a good idea where to look, methinks. It also makes it less likely he was on Jakku to protect Rey.

I'm also leaning towards thinking Finn is Force-sensitive, and perhaps even related to Mace Windu.

In Rey's flashback, I'm pretty sure the voice saying, "Quiet, girl." is the trader. Which is odd. Plus, when Rey is shown adding another mark to what is presumed to be a count of how long she's been there... well... it has been a long time. So, did it start the first day, or did it start when she moved there in her teens or something? In a quick scene, it is also clear that there are other scavengers, and it almost looked like about the same age. So, maybe there was a colony of refugees? And maybe Luke didn't even know. MVS might've been told "Take them somewhere" so he took them someplace that no one would care about, then left to find the map. Or make it.

Like I said, still good the second time.

All I gotta say, is after the last trilogy's lightsaber battles (and the Clone Wars), they better not go back to that medieval hack and slash crap, from the original trilogy.

Sure the StarKiller is awesome, the problem is, you eventually run out of suns to gobble up. I can't imagine how long that thing takes to move somewhere either. Its highly inefficient; a whole sun to power to the gun? As far a cloaking it, it looks like a planet for the most part (with the exception being that HUGE GUN sticking out of it). Maybe you surround it with a fleet of Star Destroyers so nobody wants to go near that planet type thing over there...

I'll tell you what, if I were an investor in that project, I would demand my money back until they either gave it to me or force choked me.:rockwoot:

Its not about actually using the weapon but about the fear of god that you impose on your enemies that your weapon can kill them. Case in point japan did not know we did not have anymore nukes in ww2. But the fear that we had a bomb can could destroy an entire city and rhe next one could be on tokoyo that finally made them say, ok we want to live.

Dame with a death star or star killer. You blow up a few planets and the redt of the galaxy gets in line they do mot know it may take a while to charge the weapon. All they know is there is no escaping it kf the new order wants to use it on you.

Simply put, and this is canon, Yoda was kinda wrong. A number of Jedi did survive order 66. Now what exactly qualifies as "Jedi" may be the difference. Ashoka Tano, survives the order.... but technically she was a padawan of Anakin Skywalker (she left the order); same with Kanan Jarrus (padawan). Both of them would have smashed Kylo Ren. Possible explanations, when Yoda calls Luke the "last Jedi" after he dies, is that the Jedi in hiding turned away from their teachings. Or maybe they were killed a bit after Order 66. Also, it should be noted that dark Jedi/Sith like Darth Maul still lives.

    This...
To be a jedi or sith requires certain qualifiations and test, knowledge passing. However there were other good n bad force users before the order of the jedi and sith came along. Just like religion. Christians and jews and musliums are now but before that mankind worshopped other type of gods, zeus, etc...

The idea is that the force is what it is, and you weakened its effectiveness for your purposes by dividing the same amount over numerous people, so there were two and only two Sith in order to provide for continuity of the order while concentrating immense power in two pairs of hands rather than dividing it out into lesser portions in many hands.

What? Vans? You're going on the cheap? I would have expected a Lambda-class shuttle, or maybe a Theta if the shuttle pool were getting stretched a bit.

Right, so no matter how many times the Jedi kill the sith they will always be back. Even if they kill them then kill themselves, there would be force sensitive beings born in the future. The never-ending struggle between good and evil.

Yep, sounds about right. Star Wars can never die! Why? Because.

And the force is in all life forms, from micro bacteria to Lord Vader himself.

    Correct the FORCE never dies.
However the religious freaks called the jedi/sith do come and go. Before the jedi/sith there were other "force cults" and after the time of skywalker there will be other cults

There was supposed to be a scene in Episode 3 where Grevious kills her and takes her lightsaber for his own. They changed it to them getting trapped and waiting on R2 to come save them. You make a good point but I would think since they are not talked about or mentioned then maybe they just died. I do agree that there are force sensitive people that are born and its a never ending cycle. Though spider leg Maul is something I hope not to see, maybe they will do a spin off with him and his brother Opress.

Savage Opress is dead, and Maul upgraded his spider legs into something that looks normal. Oh, and it isn't Ashoka that gets killed in Episode III, it was Shaak Ti. The footage was filmed, but cut.

Doesn't change anything, it would be something I would watch. Yes its the other chick I always mix them two up since they are the same species.

I'm a nerd of sorts, just growing up with the original trilogy and watching Eps I-III come out while I was a teenager. We grow up dreaming of other worlds and the possibilities of going there in our imaginations, being a Jedi or flying an X-Wing or having a best friend that looks like a sasquatch. With all the theories and political conjecture for the current times in which the movies were created, most importantly, in my mind, is that we enjoy the movies for what they are meant to do, allow our imaginations to grow and be a part of the popular culture for the times in which we live, and to bring back those memories from our childhood.

I enjoy learning about the stories and characters, both and canon and EU, but all I know is, that when those X-wings came ripping across the water and came to the rescue, my 7 year old son (who ADORES everything Star Wars) reached over and grabbed my arm and hugged it so tight with such a huge smile on his face that I almost teared up. (The Force is strong with us.) That's what Star Wars is all about.
