I obviously didn't make it by. We were assigned to the 25/G-town area the whole night and the only time I left was to go to the bomb squad office to drop off some homemade "M-80s" that some moron was lighting and throwing in the crowd. Now I am sitting downtown guarding the crime scene for the 4 people shot. At least I've been making OT since 0400 and I'm eating cheesecake that VUPD's girlfriend made me, so its not all bad.
I was soooo happy that we got off at 0230. That shooting just missed us ;)

I stood back and watched some younger officers and some not-so-smart older officers chase him. I only run when I absolutely have to.

    Smart man...:)

I have learned from previous mistakes! Well I'm finally home, so I'm hitting the rack so I can be back at work tonight.
Ha, we were standing at the Yellow Shirt command watching ISP and MSCO chase that guy and the line of orange Kubota's being driven by Special Deputies following. It was damn funny to watch.

I have seen it bigger back in the day.
Campers in the coke field from opening day.
Vendors open all day every day for the 30 days of may.
    150,000 plus on Pole day.
The north 40- filled to the hilt on the day before carb day. Then 30th gets shut off and the zombies walk.....:):
The attendance should hit an all time record today.

My dad and I used to always go to the first day of qualifying. Always sat in turn one, made for some good between car entertainment watching the in field. I don't recall the year, but one of the years that the turbine engines were walking away with speeds. And streaking was the trend of the year.
Numerous streakers made it across the fence onto the track that day more females then males. One male got stuck on the way over the fence by his jewels and had to be rescued. Very educational for this teenager at the time. ;)

I use a post-it note to remind me which rooms to go to on my "rounds" as I catch up to patients my students and PAs have seen. First on the list was a drunk teenager from the race, and my post-it fell into her bucket of vomit :(

Tell us more. Did they catch him or should I say how did they end up catching him? I have been laughing just playing this out in my head.

I'd just been handed a drunk by security, so I had a handy excuse to not chase. I saw the parade, though.

My partner for the night was someone I'd never worked with before, so I told him up front "I can do most every thing a real cop can do, but if I chase someone it's just for show." Gotta set those expectations.

They did, at least per the radio traffic. I think he ditched the Kubota and they found him milling around shortly thereafter.

They eventually caught him, I heard it on the radio, not sure how. Hell, one deputy was driving his own ATV....I was like WTH?

He was caught in the yard of the house my friend owns right by the corner on 25th st.
My kids were there people watching and saw the entire thing. They were still laughing about it at 3:00 AM
