So here are a few of my AR's top to bottom
223/5.56 - NEW FRONTIER ARMORY lower, with a PALMETTO STATE ARMORY upper and a bushnell red dot that came with the upper.
300 BLK OUT - AERO PRECISION LOWER with an ANDERSON UPPER and an AIMPOINT COMP M2 (tax stamp submitted for silencerco omega...I cant wait)
50 BEOWULF - BUSHMASTER lower with an ALEXANDER ARMS upper and a RRA 2 stage 2.5lb trigger. (indiana hunting rifle)

all of these have stock grips and Im looking at replacing them. Ergo or hoque?

Honestly the best replacement grips are probably the Magpuls. Either the MOE, or MOE+ if you want a softer texture. The ergo and houge aren't bad, just not as widely used as the Magpuls, and now the BCM K-grips. The addition of a grip core with storage capability is nice. Extra batteries, etc. area a good addition.

My only AR at the moment. This one is a DPMS I assembled with Gissel trigger, PVS-14 Gen 3 and Vortex StrikefireII I hope to use to kill piggies.

Assembling one on an Anderson lower with an Anderson Upper and buying a PSA later in the week to upgrade to my Steampunk dream though that will take me a while to do. Have to get all the upgrades together then assemble them and get it to AllenM for Cerakoting and Veritas for a bit of engraving. So other pix as needed to be provided.

Here is my low budget build. Less than $500. Anderson lower I picked up last year for $40. Got a daily deal from PSA on a stainless 1:7 Magpul MOE rifle kit, shipped free for $420. Add a $15 PMag and a free rear pop up sight and I've got my first AR. Big thanks to 1911ly for helping me assemble the lower.

Looks like a good start! What's the twist on the barrel? 60gr V-max work great on Varmint, and there are some other offerings from Nosler, Beger, Sierra, etc. Some of the faster barrels (say under 1:9) won't always shoot the lighter 40gr range stuff quite as accurately. For general paper punching for teeny tiny groups, either 69gr SMK's or Hornady 68 BTHP match are good choices. Both run really good in the 1:7 to 1:10 twist ranges.
Thanks, jblomenberg. I'm going to go grab some Hornaday Vmax 55 gr and see what it does tonight. If it won't eat that I'll find some ammo at the 1500. Its 1:7 and I plan to use it for coyote hunting and occasional target shooting. I appreciate the information.
