The usual large ones-gift certificates to the local butcher shop. Also family standards of pajamas, socks, and underwear. Booze and coffee in party gift exchanges. Lottery scratch offs in my stocking were a bust yet again.

For me... 2 jackets and a few movies; AND a day of awesomeness with family, spent putting together and un-packaging toys and watching the kids play ALL day with smiles on their faces.

Pretty much everything I hinted at. If I had known that, I would have added a new vault, a couple new guns, etc. to my list of "hey, this is cool" posts on FB. Though now that I think about it, she did seem to ignore my posts about SA's new Creedmoor M1A, the posts about the CMP Garands, etc.

    Highlights:
cute takeoff of the Gadsen flag shirt

RISK to play with my 11YO (It was actually on HIS list, but whatevs)

And a big old box of assorted flavored coffee creamer cups. Getting bored with the coffee at work, powder creamer sucks, and I cant trust that my flavored fridge creamer will not be pilfered or wont go bad before I can use it all.

Oh, and of course the requisite socks and underwear. Nothing says happiness like brand new socks and undies. Nice and stretchy and thick. Almost as good as changing into fresh dry ones after a cold, wet day. Quality socks and undies in good condition go a long way toward good daily morale. I must be getting old because this is a highlight of my year to cycle out the stretched out, worn stuff. I actually start to look forward to it somewhere between Halloween and Thanksgiving. :):

Oh, and the creme de la creme... a copy of my wife's recently departed grandma's sweet pickle recipe. :rockwoot:I LOVE those things. Sweet vinegar crack wedges. We would always grab a jar every time we went to visit. She passed away last month, and I wasnt about to let that legacy go. I had no idea it was a 14 day ordeal to can them. All the more respect. I'll happily share it here if you would like.

Oh, and if I die tonight, it was a bad jar of pickles. As a gag gift my MiL brought me back 2 jars of unknown age from her last trip there last week. I cracked open one at the taunting of the inlaws, and although they smelled good, they were the consistency of cooked carrots. I sampled about a 1/2tsp worth and although it tasted OK, (not good) it felt awful. And I felt queasy for several hours afterward. :):

I got a couple movie collections: Dirty Harry, Alien, Predator. I also got a Lego Chewbacca action figure. :): The best was having Christmas at my grandma's, first one in almost 10 years.

Getting to play with the grandsons was the biggest thing.
Some of those cheap cotton sweat pants. Wear them for pajamas during the winter.
