So. if I am sucker punched and go down and possibly die, was I in a fight.

In my mind no. You got whipped. Fighting takes two. Handing out a beating is not the same as a fight.

I am not sure this shooting was a fight because we do not have the facts yet. The picture without any context does not make me think this was a fight.

    My point exactly.

The photos were obviously taken and released by the family. Photos, taken at a location different than the site of the encounter, are utterly useless. They prove only that there are holes in the vehicle. How they got there is purely speculation at this point. If the trooper's shots struck the vehicle, I'm confident ISP would have photographed them at the scene.

How much of an investigation can be ongoing if the vehicle has been released?

If no charges are going to happen it would be nice to hear the prosecutor say that.

Not my County, so I have no grounds. The constituents could/should demand a statement.

That vehicle was probably processed for evidence in a few hours. Other than getting a rough determination of the angle of the shots and recovering slugs to match up with the trooper's pistol, I'm not sure what other evidence that the vehicle would have to offer.

I doubt the gun used in the shooting has left the evidence room.

Ballistic testing doesn't take long, but there is likely a backlog in cases that will keep the pistol in the evidence locker for quite a while. Plus, there is little issue with storage space vs. a vehicle. Is there something that you are trying to say?

I've seen a woman holding a sign outside the courthouse in Crawfordsville: JUSTICE FOR GLENN

I seriously doubt the claim that he "went for his gun" and would like to hear more details about the supposed commands he failed to follow prior to being shot.

That this case has been decided and nothing further is going to be done, and the prosecutor is waiting for time to slip by and not make a statement and explain why. I cannot imagine that if charges were going to be filed that the vehicle with bullet holes in it would be released.

I have a hard time believing that a guy working on his daughters car went for his gun. If that is the case I would like to see some explanation of the facts that demonstrates that is the correct conclusion. I would like to think there is more to go on than the trooper said he was going for a gun and shot him. But I think it is unlikely that there are more facts or we would have heard them by now.

How much time was there between "show me your hands" (or something like that) and shots being fired? Was the man bent over under the hood while he was being shot at?

I would like the facts to fully come forward in this case. In the case of Michael Brown when the facts came out it was easy to understand what happened and back that shooting. With what little bit we know about this right now it looks bad to me. I am hopeful that is not the case but the longer it drags out quietly the more I believe this was less than a good shoot.

A man was shot in Montgomery county. That does not happen that often there. I would think this would be getting some attention and it would be in the best interest to get it solved and some public announcement on why nothing else was going to happen. Perhaps working men and women do not deserve that type of attention?

These are my thoughts. I have been trying to not jump to conclusions as many in LE on here have suggested. But there has been plenty of time for something to have been decided and more facts to come out.

Correct. I think it was yanked after 2 episodes? One of the more cringeworthy concepts ever presented on tv.

A bit more than 2 but I don't think it made a full season. Or if ti did it was one of those "short" 10-12 episode seasons. Really stinky.

I called the prosecutors office this morning. The lady who answers the phone said there should be an announcement on this case this week.

Yes, people, the car is in the possession of the family. The hand in the photos belongs to Rich Nye of WTHR, I believe. Not positive of that fact, but I did see his posting about it, and those photos, on his FB page this past weekend.

What are they going to do? Roll the car into the courtroom for the jury to examine?

...and how do we know it's been "released". How do we know that it was not ordered held, but that the family....and the lawyers they may have hired to prosecute a civil lawsuit, were allowed to inspect it? That's not at all unusual. It's not like they need fingerprint or DNA evidence to identify who was involved in the incident.

The gun- obviously if there were a prosecution, then that would be paraded around the courtroom.

    [edit]

I'll take TF's word that it was released to the family. Also not unusual. Why not?
