Updated sit-rep: Still doing fine. Cleaning wipes are hit-or-miss, but no problems finding anything else. Even bought a gallon of isopropyl alcohol for my shoe-spraying bottle at the back door.

Lucky you. In dire straights here.... no toilet paper to be found. Ran out, tried the dog, but now he wont come near me... so had to use the wall.

Worst zombie apocalypse ever. 0/10 would not recommend. So sad.

sit rep: Valparaiso Walmart was pretty stocked up on just about everything. Meat, TP, dry goods and even lots of hand sanitizer. Place was packed. No social distancing. About 1/2 the customers and all the employees wear wearing masks.

I went to Bedford Lowe’s yesterday to pick up some 1x4’s for a little shop project I’m working on. Their lumber area was decimated. Various sizes of dimensional lumber were completely out of stock. No 1x4’s—at all. That’s the first time I’d ever seen that. I guess they’ve cut back on people restocking stuff. Bender’s had them though.

Wife wanted some building materials to make some raised bed type planters on Saturday. It was a nice day. I guessed the new Menards in South Bend would be a zoo, so I convinced her to wait till Sunday. Sunday it was raining and crappy outside so we went and it was still a zoo. The guy who helped us said Saturday had been busier than their grand opening weekend. But they were well stocked on everything.

Yeah, home improvement/hardwares seem to be wiped out and not restocking. I tried two different places to find some replacement screen for the patio door. Neither had the extra-strong or the pet screen. Had to get the regular thin stuff, and I had to end up buying 48" wide and cutting it rather than getting 36" wide. Damned screen was so thin that it ended up tearing and I had to patch it already.

Stopped by the local Lowe's on Sunday to see what mulch was selling for and look at some lumber for making some braces for a garden project. The place was an absolute disaster. Couldn't walk down most of the aisles because of boxes and pallets stacked everywhere. It was a real cluster. Doubt I ever want to go back.

I have made 3 raised "flower beds" for my garden. Used the composite material so it would not rot out right away. Hope that was not a poor decision in terms of junk in the composite (just thought of that). Depending on how this summer goes, may work on HOA approval for some more across the yard.

I needed something at Lowe's one Saturday ... line was crazy long to get in. Nope. Went back Monday am. No problem.

I wouldn't worry about the "junk". The cap material should hold it all in for years.

We just used 6" wide cedar fence pickets for ours.:dunno:

That's how Menards was on Monday. I thought it was a fluke, but maybe all the big box stores are downstaffed.

Yeah, the only leaching concern would be with treated lumber. And in theory new lumber lacks arsenic, so it shouldnt be as harmful. But I still dont want ANY chemicals leaching into my food plot soil.

I get about 8-10 years out of standard dimensional lumber. I'll be long retired before I would get a cost benefit to PVC lumber for my beds vs just buying cheap dimensional and replacing every decade or so.

Mechanix Wear are selling multicam masks for $10.

    Mechanixwear-mask.png

The better deal is that they are giving away that mask with a multicam glove purchase. I bought the inexpensive fast fit version for $15. Wasn't charged tax or for shipping...

    Cellulite on parade...:puke:

Got out for several convertible rides this past weekend, went through Culver and around the lake on Monday. Traffic was still pretty light but folks were out and about and seemed happy about it.

The police scanner was very busy with lots of folks getting themselves into outside trouble yesterday.

Fairfax beach (above) had large fight. A woman had a serious injury fall in the Brown County park. Lost hikers had to be rescued near Yellowwood Lake.
