So yeah my phone is toast, we have Verizon. So I really do not want to pay well it’s only … a month. I just need something that can do Email,text. Too bad Tough book does not do phones. Any suggestions?

Just buy something cheap off Amazon and install your Sim card. Plenty of unlocked phone available, just pick your price.

FWIW, Verizon has used phones. They very in selection, condition and of course price. The inventory also changes frequently.

We bought one for our daughter at a pretty decent price.

Have you looked at the Verizon website? They sell phones of all types. Refurbished and new. I got my Motorola Moto 5 for about $40 in an Verizon box. I have had it at least 2 years, maybe 3.

Had my Motto G for about 4 years, it appears the SIM card is fine despite catastrophic event.

I bought my last four off of eBay. Good results, sometimes really good deals. DO YOUR RESEARCH on models, track record, common issues, etc.

There are some defects on a phone you can certainly live with. As long as the screen's not broken and camera fully functional, scratches are just big money savers. I had a couple with a pink line in the screen. They were pretty good waterproof/active phones for less than 100 bucks, flagships two years prior.

Tip - the little bit older flagship phone will have the great features that will make your cheaper phone not seem like junk. I great camera, water resistance, and relative toughness from drops, to go along with the best phone features from two years ago.

Nuther Tip - a cheap silicone cover can not only cover old scratches and protect from new, but will save from a lot of drops. Especially the kind with reinforced corners.

Never say never, but I only buy Samsungs. Kinda like a Glock, tons and tons of online info, accessories, aftermarket parts, etc. Also a big selection and price competition.

Wish you were closer, I imagine I could scare one up to donate to your cause.. I was with the "big" network for over 10 years but ditched them a couple of years ago because my area of Greenwood/Bargersville has service that is "iffY" as soon as I enter my house.

With phones switching over to 5G my older Samsung S5 was getting to be a chore to use. I decided to get the newest and greatest Samsung phone available which arguably was the S22+ Plus, 5G which was selling for $1049.00, I searched and found a refurbished one on Amazon for $ 741.00 garranteed for 90 days so I bought it. Supposedly all I had to do was switch my Sim card, WRONG! I'm with Straight Talk and they said I would have to buy a new Sim card as though I was a new customer, so I did.
Then, after $37.50 and an hour and half later after talking with someone I could hardly understand, I finally got my new phone working. The whole thing made me want to throw it out the window. I gave them a "0" on their customer service survey and right a way I got a call back from them with someone who spoke clear American English and she helped me clear up my remaining problems. If it wasn't for their cheaper cost I would have gone to another carrier. Oh well it's working now.

As well as the other sources listed, check Best Buy. They often sell refurbs as well, will set the phone up for your gratis, and typically offer at least a short term exchange warranty.

Found one on Amazon says Verizon unlocked phone. Looks like an older Blackberry. It’s a Prime item so I ordered one. Figured was worth a $25.00 Gamble. Worse comes to worse I can return it.

I figured it looked to be pretty sturdy, I am hard on things, so there is that.

If all goes well it may actually be used as a phone in a couple of weeks.

$700 plus that’s a good start on a 1911 lol. I am cheap plus I am hard on things so for me the cheaper the better.

I'm going to need to do more research. When they show the "cellular technology" I'm not sure what we need.

For example: LTE, GSM, UMTS

Our Straight Talk is still with AT&T so double check on that.
