I know what you mean. Every time we have had a thread about 1911s, a group of Glockers always descend on it, to post Glock comments.

    Had to, sorry.

For the record I don't like Glocks that much. Or 1911s.

Because the folks that pretty much leave them alone as is don't really talk about it much? Maybe because the numbers of Glock owners are SO MUCH higher than all of the others that the numbers of those modding them just seems really high to the hater/wannabe's? :dunno:

Lot to be said for that living in the hater/wannabe head idea? ;)
2 of my Glocks have been modded. The rest are stock.

I know that the OP of this question was just trying to bash, but honestly, one appeal to me for any bit of kit I own is the fact that I can play with swapping out things easily which means it can be what I want instead of what some engineer thinks I should want. I like Jeeps and ARs for the same reason. The base models do the jobs well enough, but I can play with them readily. Adult Legos. I sold my 2 S&W M&P 15-22 after the extractor flew off one and S&W required me to send the whole gun back for repair instead of making available a .25$ part that takes 30 seconds to replace, and there were no aftermarket ones around.

Of course, people being with people are, I have resigned myself to the fact that a substantial number of people will bash things that they don’t personally like, that other people do. I think I got over doing that when I was about 15.

A glock is a boring tool. It gets a job done in the most utilitarian method possible. After a 5 years to you pitch it, and get another.

Its not an Heirloom for sure.

Remember when generics were a thing? White packaging with just the thing it was as the label. Glocks might as well come in a blisterpack over white cardboard with “GUN” printed on it.

What about the wheel gun grandpas?
Personally, so long as a handgun is reliable and accurate, I'm not particular about the platform.

Glocks are what they are. To me, that is an inexpensively made molded plastic pistol with a bunch of stamped steel parts embedded in that plastic. To me, it also means a simple, yet very effective way of launching bullets at stuff that needs to have bullets launched towards it. I’ve had as many as 9 or 10 of the things at one time and sold all off except one. Now, I just picked a new one up in January because Glock is the only company that makes a production compact pistol in .357 Sig.

I’ve shot that one enough to trust it, but I’m probably never going to like it. Like half the other Glocks I’ve owned, it likes to eject brass towards my face unless I’m shooting self defense levels of power.

Glocks are polarizing in part because of the ridiculous claim of perfection in an obviously dated platform. While the 1911 has aged well and is still a relevant design, Glock is starting to look like an aged design when compared to the variety of new striker fired guns with replaceable grip frames.

Comparing a stock Glock to a 320, or other newer modular striker, polymer gun is not much different than comparing a 1911 with a 2011, really.

That's a LOT of the issue with the hater's. Understanding the difference between a company motto/slogan and conflating it with a claim, (even if true. ;))
It's pretty handy though if your argument for your "better tool" isn't very sound, eh?

Yup. It would not get much attention, though, if not for the fanboys belief in the claim. If I had a dollar for every time someone gave the single word 'Glock' reply to a question of what gun to buy, I'd be retired by now. They are great guns, but you have to understand them for what they are. That being a simple, utilitarian fighting tool.

I'd love to see them come out with a G23 that had a replaceable grip module instead of incremental adjustments to the design.

Yep, that pretty much sums up a Glock. You get a basic working product, and not much more.

I will give one Exception, the Glock 17L, you have to admit that thing sticks out...
