Was a nice ice cream joint in Galena when I was a kid, and a truck stop on the south side of Greenville.

Dairy Dip in New Salisbury is still there...
As is the Little Twirl in Livonia...
    And Dairy Bell in Mitchell...

I cooked the graveyard shift at the Triple XXX for almost 10 years.
That's a boatload of Purvis burgers, biscuits and gravy, and fried eggs...

Oops did not realize restaurants versus the predecessor to modern day Sonic’s
Burt Wright opened the Triple XXX as nothing more than a root beer stand in 1929.
It remained just a root beer stand for several years, until one of his employees asked permission to sell sandwiches at the stand while the owner was on vacation in Florida.
Upon his return, the owner was so impressed with the receipts generated in his absence that he quickly changed his business model and became a food stand that also sold root beer.

Triple XXX root beer is still produced and bottled, although not in West Lafayette, and is available for purchase across much of the United States.
They do not sell hamburgers! They sell steak burgers. 100%chopped sirloin steak, and you can taste the difference.
Triple XXX- "On the hill, but on the level".

Sounds like a nice piece of history! There are still a few gems out there.
