I’ve put the link to an article below for Sportsman Warehouse‘s new 7mm08 Remington Magnum. It’s the exact same cartridge dimensions as the 7mm08 but this one outperforms the 30 06 because it has ballistics identical to the 7mm Remington Magnum!! I don‘t know about you guys and gals but I’m gettin me one of these new bad boys!

    Title:

    7MM-08 Rem. Mag. vs .30-06

Ballistics Performance Comparison of 7MM-08 Rem. Mag. vs .30-06 Cartridges

i thought they would accidently put "mag" in one time, but they spelled out "magnum" several times.
That whole comparison with the 30-06 seems off. I don't load or shoot the 7-08 so i looked up in my manuals and they do NOT list 140gr going near that fast so their data is suspect.

I think with 140gr 7mm08 most guys are getting 2900 fps with HOT loads, with very few people claiming to get 3,000 fps.

It’s amazing that you can wrote an article about comparing two cartridges and not have a clue about at least one of the three you mention!

Down at the bottom is the most factual and believable statement in the whole article:

I’m rather smitten with my 7mm08 so sounds like if I wanted something hotter I’d buy a belted magnum….
Years ago and I regret selling it I had a Savage 110 tactical in 7 mm Magnum. Man it was a blast to shoot. I really wish I would have kept that one. But I was stupid at the time and I let it go. It was a great rifle. I even had a ton of ammunition for it because I bought a bunch of it when Kmart was going out of business and they were selling 7 mm Magnum soft tip for $10 a box. I had 300 rounds of that which would have given me a a nice quantity of brass to reload. But alas I sold it

7mm08 has been an enjoyable cartridge for a long time, the 6.5mm08 that later morphed into the 260 Remington was a very enjoyable cartridge. Lots of really great cartridges have come over the years. As great as they are, they will always be lesser than the 7mm Magnum or the 6.5 X 284 (or 6.5 X 06) simply due to powder capacity. No matter what some aspiring journalist types out. It takes both pressure and time to develop velocity.

Yep, I own one 7mm. It has a belt around the bottom of the case.
    If I need less, a 243 or a 308 fits the bill.

I'm pretty sure that article was written by a bot or Indian. Just some of the phrasing and grammar wasn't quite right. I hate the modern internet.

Also, putting a newer, hotter magnum in the same case dimensions is how you **** people off when their gun blows up in their face. That's just awful planning, engineering, liability, everything.

I tend to think the entire line up of 7MM cartridges are pointless answers to questions no one asked but this is not a new wildcat.
