      Advice on surplus rifles

+ 1 on Swiss K-31s. I just picked up my 2nd one (from an INGO member). Not only are K31s super accurate (not hard to find one with 1 MOA capability), their bores are in very good condition since Swiss 7.5 x 55 military ammo was non-corrosive. Their triggers are far better than most other...

      Thompson Center .308, beginner rifle?

Kentucky Gun Company has great deals on T/C compasses. $272.83 with free shipping. Subtract the $75 rebate and that puts you at $197 with the only thing being needed is FFL transfer fee of $20-25. https://www.kygunco.com/Product/View?ItemNo=111667 1st....you mentioned a 20" barrel with...

WTS: BNIB: Thompson Center Compass 6.5 Creedmoor

SOLD Brand new in box: Thompson Center Compass in 6.5 Creedmoor - blued/laminate. Bought this via internet without ever handling one in person until I picked up at local FFL. This Compass is my first "economy" priced rifle and I am not too fond of the fit/finish, therefore am throwing it...

      Pocket Knife and TSA

I forgot to put my pocketknife in a checked bag when flying though Boston-Logan airport and luckily found it myself when unloading pockets at TSA. Thankfully, I had enough time before the flight to find a full service USPS and mail it back home. Since then, I typically fly with a small...

AR Rookie: Build Them Myself or Pay Someone Else To?

I say build them yourself. Another approach would be to build just 1 rifle at first, then send a couple hundred rounds down it for testing and troubleshooting. If all goes well, build the other 2 using skills learned from number 1.

      WTS/WTT: Wet brass tumbler package

Homemade wet brass tumbler setup. I made this about 2 years ago to polish a large batch of .308 brass. Heavy duty wooden frame, 1HP Grizzly motor (which is WAY oversize for the application), greasable pillow block bearings, steel roller rods with rubber over them, and homemade PVC tumbler...

To buy a Vortex Strike Eagle or not

After reading great reviews, I went to the 1500 looking to acquire a Strike Eagle and hopefully buy one from Alan, but I was told he wasn't at the show. Ended up getting one for $300 from Kenzies Optics instead. I bought their last one at 6 p.m. on Friday evening. Haven't had a chance to...

When was the last time you saw a "primer sale"?

+1 for Profire Arms if you are just getting started and don't need massive bulk supplies yet. During the panic, it was always nice to have a place to rely on for supply and no price gouging. The new shop on Rockville Road is very nice.
