If you don't go to show's, you never know what you can't live without. Keep an open mind and bring lots of cash. My wife say's I have too many pistols but she has more shoes than i have guns.

      Auto-Ordnance 1911 opinions?

Ouch Back in the late 1960's I saved up and traded a well used WWII Remington 1911 plus cash for my first brand new from a dealer Handgun, an Auto Ordnance 1911-A1 Govt model. It was possibly the worst pistol I have ever owned. It jammed constantly, had a horrible trigger, and when it did shoot...

      Tokarev

About 10 years ago I had a Navy Arms import Tokarov that came with both the 7.62 barrel and a 9mm barrel. I friend begged me to trade it to him for a new Ruger P85 that he didn't shoot well. The Ruger is long gone now and he still shoots the Tokarov just to make me feel bad.

      trimming tool for .30 carbine

As few of the 30 carbine cases that you will need to trim, a simple tool such as a Lyman Universal Case Trimmer will work fine and I got mine off of Ebay with pilots for under 30 bucks. I like it because of the universal chuck instead of seperate holders or colletts

Anyone shot Aguila 45acp 230gr fmj

I have shot a couple of thousand rounds of the Aquila 45 with no problems in my 1911 and have reloaded a bunch of the brass several times with no failures of any kind. I believe the Aquila is produced in the old Remington plant in Mexico.

Worst new gun you have owned

dissapointment plus My first ever brand new handgun back in the late 60's was an Auto Ordnance GI model 1911. It was also the worst POS I ever owned, would never fire a whole mag without a ftf and when it did shoot was so inaccurate as to be dangerous to anyone in the area. The second worse was...

      Bullet substitution conundrum... ??

Bullets I would weight the bullets and go by the published data for the closest ones found listed.

You can disregard my earlier message. I am no longer interested in the 357 or the ammo.

Ammunition shelf life--effects on ammo stored longterm

A neighbor of mine was a competitor in Military Rifle matches back in the 50's and 60's. When he passed away his widow gave me all of his reloading gear and supplies of witch a lot was 50+ years old. In with the rest of the stuff was about 250 rounds of 30-06 ammo that he had loaded. It...

      231 in a luger

I use it for 115 gr and 124 gr lead bullets. 4.8 gr seems to function well in my Luger. There are better choices but if it's all I have handy, I use it.

45 acp brass with small primer

I have never noticed any difference using the regular small pistol primers and my regular bullseye load in my 1911's. I like haveing brass with both large and small primer pockets, I buy whatever is available or on sale.

      Small Pistol primer 45ACP brass?

I have loaded thousands of them so far using regular sp primers and bullseye, my 1911's can't tell the difference.

      1911 - Buy or Build?

In 1968 when I got home from the army, I had accumulated all the parts to build a 1911 except for the frame. Being friends with the company armorer had advantages. At that time you could buy a frame through the mail and have it sent to your home without any problems, I think I sent Essex a money...

      Steel cased ammo question

I have fired thousands of rounds of wolf ammo through all of my handguns with no problems. I don't see any difference in wear and tear.
