      Preferred firearm?

I like rifles. accuracy and range + power. Shotguns are definitely the most versatile though. Pistols are fun to the shoot but seem to be a little impractical unless you want to shoot someone. There are exceptions of course.

What to shoot out of a shotgun w/ rifled barrel

I've heard so many things regarding this subject and no one seems to agree. Do you want to shoot rifled slugs out of a rifled barrel or sabots and why? To me sabots seem more logical because the rifling on the slugs seems like they might interfere with the barrel rifling, but I'm probably wrong.

What the difference between a Remington model 700 and a model 770

I'm not sure but I think it's mainly the finish and stock, possibly the trigger as well. The action and the barrel are the same. I THINK. The 700 just comes with a better finish and more bells and whistles. I've owned a 700 adl and it was a fine rifle. Any 770 I've held at the store just...

      Ruger Redhawk or S&W 629

I heard that about a 10mm. Thats interesting and I'll look into it. I do like the reliability of a revolver though. I have looked at the Alaskan. It might be the one I end up going for assuming I can find one.

      Opinions on Deer guns?

I'd do the .44 mag with leverevolutions. Plenty of power for deer out to 100 yards, not as much recoil (hence easier to shoot accurately), and much handier to carry around in the woods.

      Looking for a rifle...

I'd go for the 30-06. Put 125s in it and nail yote's (you MIGHT save the pelt) or put 220s in it and go for brown bear. Do 180s for elk, moose and black bear, and 150s for deer and caribou. Of course you can do all this with the 308 as well, except maybe brown bear. An old guide I talked to...

      Ruger Redhawk or S&W 629

Probably for AK. You say the s&w has a harder time with heavier loads?

      Deer Hunting in Indiana

Just looked it up. Under hunting license exemptions: "Landowners, or lessees of farmland who farm that land and are residents of Indiana, their spouses and children living with them, while hunting, fishing or trapping on the land they own or lease. This exemption does not apply to land...

      Ruger Redhawk or S&W 629

I need to get a 44. Leaning toward the redhawk based solely on price i guess

Only gun you need for bear defense is a .22. Bear charges, you shoot the other guy in the foot and run

      Deer Hunting in Indiana

Don't need a license to hunt on land you own. You do have to comply with all other hunting regs though. So you shouldn't go out with your ought-six and a spotlight. Though I don't know who would stop you....
