We went to Danville show passed on some .45 ammo. Went to Indy. show was even a little cheaper. Soooooo I bought more. LOL Nice people to deal with. A lot of good deals if you were buying.
I myself go to UPS on 16th street they tape all of my boxes and are very helpful. Even ask what I am shipping and if I just did not like it or working on something new. Real nice people.
700.00 is a good price will only go up from there. Yes recoil is a little more with 308 but it's a 308. I have two 308's I shoot love to shoot but next day a little sore but what the heck still worth it. Buy it and have fun. Before it is sold or traded.
I would take to a gunsmith to check it out and could tell you more about these old guns I hope. My smith is very helpful in older guns a is always will to test fire if safe if he will shoot it I will.
I have a few M1 carbine and they are few that match but if looking for a shooter 500.00 to 600.00 range. One of the best shooting guns I own always looking for another one. Good luck in your hunt.
People seem to over price. My stuff is worth it's weight in gold. But will take less. What is that. Price it right the first time and sell it. Please people go to your FFL. I am not one but use one. Always split the cost works out fine.
