      Powder measures and IMR 4895...

In general, I have had a much better experience getting the Hodgdon Extremes (ADI Manufactured) extruded powders to meter better through measures than the IMR line. I have always used a RCBS measure. The trick I think is that the Hodgdon granuals are shorter. None of them run like a ball...

      Summer carry input

I would go with either the Kahr PM9 9mm or a S&W 640 or 642 in 38 Special. I own these three and one of them is always with me. We have a lot of hot weather here and these can be carried in lightweight clothing. Especially the PM9 and 642.

      Best Pocket Pistol ever made

I'm would go with the Kahr PM9 or S&W 640. The S&W 642 is great to carry, but not so much to shoot. Mark in GA

      best hand guns

I have a S&W 686+ 7-shot L-frame mountain gun. It carrys like a dream in the field and I can shoot it really well. S&W only made about 1500 of these and I cn't understand why. It carrys SO much better that the regular 686 with full underlug. Mark in GA

      Funny encounter at gun shop

I agree. We need to take the time to answer patiently with folks who are new to guns. In fact we need to turn as many people over to our side as we can. There are many people who are on the fence on the gun issue. We need to convince them that we as gunowners are logical, responsible...

      Loading SD ammo?

I think is has something to do with your area too. Ayoob makes a big deal out of it, but I don't recall ever really hearing about any actual cases. It was more speculation about what could happen or might happen at trial. There have not been any cases in my area where this even came up. If...

      Grease the slide?

I use a dab of montana extreme on the rails of all of my semi-auto's. A local gunsmith told me to do this many years ago and I have stayed with it. He's been a smith for over 40 years, so I assume he knows of what he speaks. Mark in GA

An alternate look at handgun stopping power

I agree with the whole make sure you have a gun crowd. I carry the largest that my cloths allow depending on the weather. That might be a 1911 sometimes, but more often that not its a Kahr or a S&W 640. Mark in GA

      Good news for 10/22 owners

Bout time Ruger put these out! I don't get why they waited so long. They pulled the mag capacity stunt with their Mini-14's too. Mark in GA

      Ballistol

I stick with Hoppe's #9 for a general solvent, but after that cuts the crud I go over everything with Ballistol. I stinks pretty bad but the results speak for themselves. Mark in GA

      First loads for 38 SPL

One simple truth I learning a long time ago is to assemble different loads in different brass or use bullets that are visibly very different to distinguish different loads. To keep things simple I typically go with cast SWC's in standard 38 (non-+P) for light loads. JHP's in nickle brass are...

Replacing Sig SP2022 with Kahr CW9?..opinions

I'm new here. I don't know much about the Sig, but I have had 3 Kahr's (PM9, P9, K9 Elite) and I can answer questions about those for you. What would you like to know? Mark in GA

      questions for the casters

What cartridges are you casting for? It really does make a big difference. Many people think harder is better. In reality, most commercial cast bullets (not swaged) are too hard for the lower pressure cartridges like 38 Special, 44 Special, 45 Auto, etc. Even the magnum rounds like 357 and...

Range report: First batch of 9mm reloads

Hi, I'm new to the board but I have been handloading for about 18 years with many many thousands of safe rounds under my belt. Be really careful with Titegroup in your 9mm. It will work for light to medium loads, but the pressure curve is really sharp and it can get too hot really fast. You...

      Kahr PM40 mini review

I have a PM9 and a P9. Before that I had an all SS K9 Elite. They are great carry weapons. The PM9 does great for pocket carry. The P9 and K9 really need a decent IWB holster. I haven't fired one in 40 cal, but I bet is has some bite to it! Mark in GA
