      Davis .38 special derringer Q's

I've wanted to get one for a console gun, but haven't been able to bring myself to pull the trigger yet. That's a nice looking one you have though.

What are your thoughts on Sig 220 vs 1911

Personally I prefer the 1911. I have three of them and a Sig P220. The 1911's are more accurate for me and easier to clean. Just my $.02.

Guns Go Bang Without Fingers (yes, again)

I have seen this happen with a brand new ruger .17 bolt action. While at a public range a guy pulled up and sat at the rest next to us. Started talking to him and he told us he had just left the gun show and wanted to sight in his scope. After loading he closed the bolt and it fired. We all...

      Stars Earn Stripes

Just watched the first episode. Was it realistic? Not really. It is for a good cause though. The real winners are the veteran organizations that get donations that the celebrities win. For that reason I'll probably keep watching. It's not every day that you get to see real members of the...

      It needs to be asked.

They simply the best firearm ever made. I personally don't know what the fuss is. I have three and do a basic cleaning after every trip to the range. Complete disassembly and clean about once a year. They shoot anything I can afford to feed them. All three have shot great out of the box. The...

      FREAKED OUT by firearms

No and no, learned responsibility about guns early. I was freaked out the first time I went in to a gun shop and priced a new gun though.

Worst new gun you have owned

Technically it is my wife's but I bought her a Taurus .25 and it has trouble ejecting spent spent brass. It gets caught sitting length wise holding the slide open.

How much was your first handgun?

Ruger P94 .40 cal NIB. I think it was in the $400 range but that was 16 years ago.

Kids, guns and fun - paid for by Chicago. Was your weekend this much fun?

I took my 10 year old to one for the first time in Newburgh at Red Brush. He rated as the most fun he'd ever had. It was a great learning experience. I noticed a significant difference in his accuracy and safety every time we have shot since then.

      Question about the Sig P238

Just like a 1911 you should be able to replace the mainspring with a lighter one or trim a half loop off the spring. It will make the hammer easier and the trigger pull a little lighter.

What would you use for home defense?

I don't discriminate against any of my guns. Which ever one is closest.

Reputable range/shop/lessons in or near Evansville?

Sugar Ridge FWA in Winslow, about 40 minutes from here but it is free and outdoor. There is a 25 yard, 50 yard, 100 yard, and a 200 yard range. It's a nice clean place to go. Haven't been to Strictly in years, owner is a nice guy, but annoyed by the people that work there. Wasn't very friendly...

Do You Actively Watch for Others Carrying?

I always look for the ones that are carrying whether open or concealed. I do it more for my own practice to see if I am as aware of my surroundings as I think I am. I'm sure I miss more than I catch, but I am working on it.

      Southpaw and a 1911?

I am a southpaw as well and I can say the 1911 is my favorite pistol. I am up to three now and looking for my fourth. An ambi-safety is the most important thing for a lefty, the only other option I would recommend is an extend slide release, makes it easier to manipulate with your left index...

      Buffalo Wild Wings gun ban

We can go back and forth with the open or concealed carry for months. I personally prefer concealed, but if your choice is to open carry then that is your choice. If you are doing so legally I am just glad you are carrying. I do agree with the folks that open carry in regards to this thread. I...
