I had a good first morning out yesterday. I had 3 Tom's come in off the roost. Watched the boss strut, gobble and drum like crazy. His 2 buddies weren't really into it, but the boss was. Closest he got was about 60 yards, but he wouldn't come down into the cedar thicket I was set up in.
8,930 birds checked in as of this morning. Hopefully there are some left for me when I get to hunt this week! I am at work now, but the truck is loaded and hopefully I can get a hunt in this afternoon. We are supposed to have rain and storms pretty much everyday I am there, but hopefully I will...
7,458 checked in as of this morning. Looking to be a good year. That will slow down a bunch after tomorrow though. My first time out will be tomorrow evening.
I have had this Knight TK2000 NWTF shotgun for awhile now and have shot it for pattern several times. 1 7/8 ounce of #5's over 110 grains of 2F. It patterns well out to 40 yards. It is a 209 gun, which I prefer over standard caps. I bought an EGW one piece base, opened it up some so I can get...
I have thought about getting the competition slide assembly, but I ordered the DPP Titanium plate to go with the red dot I already have. The vast majority of the videos I have seen using the plates and red dot have been favorable, so I'm gonna try the $22 option before I do the $190 option.
I got one! $230 out the door @ the LGS with Ameriglo night sights that are nice and bright. The trigger is the best part. I'm probably gonna red dot it at some point.
I was packing up my bag for next week's turkey trip and found a big Lone Star nestled between 2 folded shirts. Little Ba$tard was obviously waiting with ill intent, so I dispatched him accordingly. He has been in there at least 4 days, since I got back from the farm.
I built up a 12.7x42 (.50 Beowulf) early last year. The ammo is expensive and not available in very many stores, but it is fun to shoot. I typically order the ammo from AE Ammo.
The kids did good last weekend with 1,835 birds checked in. I live in Dearborn Co. and the kids here checked in 51. The kids in Perry Co. where my farm is checked in 34. Great job!
I haven't been seeing anything in the fields around my part of Perry County. I know they are around though. I figure they are finding enough to eat in the woods here.
