Gander Mtn prices are usually high unless it's one of the sale items that they list in their flyer. I've heard of people finding good deals on used guns at Gander, but I've never spotted one.
After years if using regular store belts, I ordered a Ares ranger belt. Its made of scuba webbing and has a cobra buckle. I really like it and have no regrets
I love my surefire x300 mounted on my G17. I bought it over the phone from brightflashlights.com out of north Florida as they had the lowest price that I could find anywhere.
The differences have been covered already so I won't chime in there. I prefer my gen4 to my gen3 17 for the following reasons:
-it feels like less recoil (maybe that's in my head)
-grip texture is "grippier" than the gen3 which I found a bit slippery

Not a stupid question at all. It should not "hurt" the gun and it's yours to personalize as you wish.

I regularly carry a G26 to backup my 17 or 19. It can be done, just takes a little bit more effort.
