I am going to spend Thanksgiving with my daughter and her family in Northern Illinois. It is my understanding that I can carry while driving, however, must leave the firearm in the vehicle if I exit it for any reason. Am I correct in my thinking?

I had stopped by the Michigan City Menard's and all they had on the shelf was 2 labeled @ $14.95. They had large Zombie labels on them. Needless to say, at that price it was no "deal".
