Considering 6.5 Grendel AR - Seeking Advice and Open to Alternatives

I really like the 6.8mm SPC, and have used mine to take deer, but either would serve you well I think depending on what you consider long range. My understanding is that the 6.5 G has better BC bullets, and will start outperforming the 6.8 at longer ranges. In your case I would just evaluate...

      Brownells BRN-180/180S

Anybody have one of these and care to provide any feedback? I like the idea of a piston driven AR, but have concerns about proprietary replacement parts, as well as the cost of the upper ($830 for the 10.5" version). If it were $400-500, it wouldn't be too bad, but currently is a little more...

Who can thread barrels in Indiana?

I would use AllenM. He hasn't done a barrel for me, so I don't know what he charges, but he custom built a 1911 for me and did a great job. ZR Tactical charged me $125 (if I'm remembering correctly) to cut and butcher the threads on my CZ Scorpion barrel. I will never use them again for anything.

      Happy, jealous or concerned.

I would be happy, and concerned at the same time. I may be preaching to the choir, but not understanding the basics of the firearm one just purchased implies a certain level of disregard for what it is, a dangerous weapon. Maybe that is not the case with your coworker and her husband... at...

      Well then.....

Not Thanksgiving, but Christmas after the Sandy Hook murders my brother essentially accused me of being complicit because I own AR-15's. The argument didn't last long, and basically ended with us agreeing that we weren't going to change each others minds. We still talk, but it is very...

SIG516 Uppers Contract Overruns at SIG

Any idea if the forearm can be replaced with something lighter? Or maybe AllenM could trim it down and refinish it for me.... if I buy one.

      The White Whale

Dan Wesson Bobtail Commander in 10mm Auto. I did find a used one some years ago at the Indy 1500 for $1000, but didn't buy it. I scratched the itch though and had Allen M build me one that I am very happy with.

OR: Knife attack nets 7 years.

When keepin' it real goes wrong.... 7 years seems a little light, but that's JMO

10mm 155gr Hornady XTP Load Test.

Well, do you still have your hands? I've never tried 800X, but it looks like you can wring a lot out of it. I like Accurate #9, but I think it tops out around 1400 fps with a 155 gr. XTP.

      Reloaded .45 ACP marketability?

I wouldn't feel comfortable using someone's handloads, except for my buddy or father-in-law. You could try selling them and whoever buys them can use them at their own risk (not saying there is an issue with your loading), or pull the bullets and dump the powder themselves to reuse the brass.

      Bosnian AK-47/74 Mags - $9 and Up

I may have to give some of the 74 mags a shot. At that price might be worth a chance on 4-6.

      .223 ammo question

My buddy and I have used a fair amount of the Wolf Gold. It's been reasonably accurate, and we haven't had any issues.

      Great deal on AK mags

Wow, that was a good deal. Wonder if those are the same Croation mags as Aim Surplus? I need 74 mags more than 47's, but at that price it would have been hard not to pick up 10-12 of those.

      Binary trigger

I think the Fostech is $480. I've being eyeing them for a while, just haven't pulled the trigger yet..... yes, I said it. I kind of like the idea of that versus full auto. If I could afford a full auto AR platform, I think burst fire would make more sense anyway.

      Low power .308 deer loads?

Not to pile on, but that is what I was thinking too. I would image the 308 Winchester has put plenty of meat on the table over the years, just depends on bullet selection.

      Contact Mitch McConnell Now

I sent messages to Senator Young, Senator Braun, Senator McConnell, Representative Pence, and President Trump. I'm holding my breath to hear their responses affirming that they will uphold their oaths to the Constitution, and not cave to the "you have to do something" crowd. Considering...
