I have a hi point 9mm carbine that I want to load 124gr jhp ,for powder I will be using is hp38/231. The book I have is for 4” barrel data ,the carbine is 16” .
I’m thinking take a 5 gallon bucket fill it full of sand . Then fasten a pvc to the lid ,fill it full of foam so the sand doesn’t come up in gun . Shoot straight in to it ,then recover bullet to measure for barrel size / bullet size for reloading.

I have a bath room in a barn at farm with insulation temp gets to about 40 most winter .I don’t turn heat on till it gets below 20 outside then keep it at about 40. In the summer it will get to 80 or so. So would ammo be ok in cans in there ,would like to get it out of house.
So going through inventory today found lots of 38 swc (and flat nose) 158g so I sized to 356 made dummy’s and cycled through a Glock 26 9mm by hand went ok .looking at lee reloading book found 147g lead data ,bullet is about same as 9mm 147 ,was going to use that data. What do you guys think of...
I'm looking to build a bullet trap to caught /recover rifle bullets( 7.62x54r / 303) ,thinking about 4' long 8" dia. full of sand . What do you guys think or any ideals.
I have started powder coating bullets by making a basket out of small hardware cloth and by laying on that baking paper. The basket leaves grooves or lines on bullets and using the paper leaves flats . I have not notice this causing any problem other than looks. How do you do it to get around this ?
I replaced my ar15 hand guard last night, removed barrel nut, but did not take barrel out of upper , torque to 50 lb.foot. My question is do I need to have head space checked ? (did not remove barrel)

Had a chance to do some cleanup and shooting today at my pistol and rifle range. I'm lucky to have the space to do this.I stand in the little shack to shoot my sem-auto so I can pickup my brass. I can get about a 150 yard shot on the rifle part.
