I think you will be pleased. I bought a Dan Wesson Razorback in 10mm a while back, it is a fine piece of equipment. Fit and finish is excellent, and the trigger reset is as good as I ever felt on any 1911, including the semi customs, i.e. Les Baer.
I have been eyeing a Dan Wesson Guardian in 38...
I'm obviously not CM but I do have a Dan Wesson in 10mm, the Razorback. It is one of the nicest 1911's I own, and that is several. The trigger, especially the reset is incredible. I have two Les Baer's in .45 ACP and I would put Dan's against either one for overall fit and finish and general...
I've been a Colt revolver guy for probably forty years, for whatever that's worth. I really haven't heard of anyone, including me, that thought the new Colt's needed action work as they are really nice out of the box. That being said, never trust the corner 'smith to work on a legacy Colt...
I hand load approximately 10,000 rounds of ammunition a year with hard cast lead, a lot of which is shot at an indoor range, although I don't cast bullets myself. I think standard caution applies in this. I wash my hands well with cold water (keeps pores closed) after handling lead and usually...
I had a 25 inch Stihl several years ago, unfortunately someone decided they needed it worse than I did and it disappeared out of my unlocked shed. That thing was a beast. Please be VERY careful, those big saws have their place but for general limbing and working up stove wood a 16 or 18 inch...
Met a guy at a Cracker Barrel Restaurant and bought a Colt Wiley Clapp edition 1911 one time...can always say I got the Clapp at a Cracker Barrel....
Big fan of the single actions here, a Ruger Vaquero in .45 Colt, a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 magnum, and the pride of the fleet a Colt SAA in .44/40. Unfortunately my photography skills are weak.
I understand that a bank is a for profit business and I'm fine with that, profit is not a four letter word. I thought banks made profit by taking my deposited money, giving me for all practical purposes zero interest and loaning same money to others for a higher interest rate. That is where the...
I've used up all my stock of cardboard canned Hercules powder except for about half a pound of Reloader 7. Unique is my go to powder for a lot of calibers, 44/40, 45 Colt, and 45 ACP especially, use an eight pound keg a year. It's vintage, been around since about 1900 I think.:):
Take the class(es). You will be amazed and what you will come away with. Take classes with highly respected trainers that are local to you and take classes from nationally respected trainers. In most cases you will learn in usually a few hours what you will never learn on your own or from a...
I slugged my third gen. Colt SAA at .428 groove diameter, thus using .429 lead. The chambers all slugged at .432 and was a little concerned as I would have liked the chambers more on the order of .430 or so. The gun shoots very accurate with .429 so I'll stay where I'm at, shot 50 or 60 rounds...
This is my first experience with the Redding Profile Crimp die. The Lee FCD crimp portion seems to work fine for me in some calibers but I don't care for the post sizing part of it. I went to great lengths slugging the barrel of the .44 40 due to so much possible variation in .44 40 groove...
Loading .44-40, 200 grain RNFP over 7.5 grains Unique. Those paper thin necks caused a little heartburn at first but it looks like I have that sorted out. Using .429 diameter bullet to give .001 over barrel groove diameter, and ended up using a .44 magnum expander to avoid bulging cases...
